Come back when you get some info from the mechanic. If your engine is toast prepare to drop 10k$ for the whole swap. I went through hell with my car. Good luck and hopefully its just something small.

Jesus Christ, what a nightmare. I thought N55's were suppose to be more reliable than N54's? (Sorry, oblivious N52 owner here)
Hope it works out for you guys. |

What brand of oil were you using? Just trying to see if there are any similarities between these and BMW's are known to be picky about oil.

this is probably the third thread I have seen regarding knock on a N55 this week.
Do these engines have a five to six year period and then just go to shit? Makes me think about trading my 335ix in with 70k miles... even though I just bought it at 62k miles

Is this knock? I've been having weird issues. Seems like its misfiring, or like not all the power is there. I will check coils and plugs soon. Just changed the oil too. Using 0w 40

Could it be an early indicator though? I took an oil sample and still waiting on results. I heard leaky injectors could cause rod knock too

Doesn’t sound like a knock to me either. My mechanic got back to me yesterday and it’s official , my 11’ 335 w/ 45k miles has a spun rod bearing.. honestly, my best adavise to all would be stick to jb4. Too much coincidence my buddy and I both identical setups and tune, both with spun rod bearings.

Honestly, I think there a couple factor which play a role. For Diox and me we both had identical set ups, both on liqui Molly and custom e30 tunes. My car had 45k and Diox I believe was under 65k, this is fairly low milage and shouldn’t have happened.

I've run e30 on mine on Map 5 and had no problems on stock fuel lines and fuel pumps. I also use liqui moly 10w40

Is there any benefit in running 10w40 vs 5w30 or 0w40?
