Looking into purchasing an ER charge pipe. I'm pretty sure the n55 engines have a diverter valve... does that make a BOV unnecessary? Just wondering if I should go CP only or CP+BOV and the pros/cons of each.

You want the charge pipe only

The N55 doesn't use a BOV. If you're planning on upgrading your intercooler in the future to something that uses a 3" lower chargepipe you'll want to stick with a 3" chargepipe. The ER starts at 2.5" and expands to 3".
