Yet another Phytonic Blue X3 M40i... :)

Hi all, I finally took delivery of my X3 M40i in the color of, you guessed it, Phytonic Blue. Haha - it seems that that is the popular choice (especially considering the options you had for the M40i - black/white/silver). My last X3 was Deep Sea Blue which I liked, so I hoped it would be similar and it's almost - just a little brighter but it's really close.

I also realized that with all the pics I took of the outside, I barely took any of the inside, save for that photo of the rear seats that will at least show you the contrast stitching and piping.

The all weather mats for my 2015 X3 did not fit perfectly with this car, but it was close enough to use until I can get ones that are perfect - or maybe I won't. It's just a little off. Also when you're using these over your regular mats, you lose the visual of having the blue trimmed mats.

Some things I noticed in regards to the lighting... All four LED lamps are lit for night driving which I know is the case with LED lighting, but on my previous X3s, only the outer angel eye would have the xenon light.

I also noticed the turn signals from the rear. It looks like on the M40i - all the red LEDs blink, but in most videos I saw, there is a yellow LED that blinked to signify the turn. There are no yellow LEDs on the rear of the M40i.

Anyway, here it is!

Congratulations! I’m digging the pillows in the back, makes me want to hang out back there.

Even though I’ve sat in one, this is the first photo that has made me realize the silver “X” is visible on the rear door when closed. I guess subconsciously I thought it wasn’t visible since that’s the case in the front.

Haha - thanks! I often wonder what people's reactions are seeing those pillows. I thought it would make it more inviting for the back seats.

Great looking car!

I’m on the point of ordering one. Interested to hear how you like it and performance / fuel economy is like.

Enjoy!

Did you get stock 21s too? I see you are on 19s now.

For some reason my CA can’t get the name of this color straight. He has said either Pythonic or Photonic.

I did not get the 21s seeing that the roads I drive on a lot are rater bumpy here so I did sacrifice some of the good looks and stuck with the 19s for now.

Thanks! I only have 60 miles on it so far and I'm too interested in what I find for fuel economy. Performance wise, I have been driving mostly on Comfort and it seems peppier than Comfort setting in my 2015 X3. What little driving I did on Sport mode - definitely a nice power boost however I think I did notice a little bit of a turbo lag. Maybe it was just me - will find out more this weekend.

In Australia the turn signal must be yellow.... possibly in Europe too (only a guess). So the images you saw of yellow rear turn lights was likely on a car from another market.

In the US I think a red turn signal is fine.... which is why yours are red only.

Too bad, I would prefer yellow. It is more contrasting with the red brake lights and draws more attention.

Hmm, that's interesting. I don't recall which video I saw but you may very well be right since most of those early videos were all from Europe. I guess someone here from the US can answer if they have a yellow turning LED in the back.

I think the US requires yellow reflectors and yellow turn signals in the front. For the life of me, I can't remember if my 2015 X3 had yellow turn lights in the back. Haha!

For whatever dumb reason BMW sells most of their cars with red rear turn signals in North America. While rest of the world uses amber.
It's same on my current F10 5-er.

A few more pictures at night... The rear really stands out with the bold red. The interior lighting is really so nice. The blue seems to match up with the Phytonic blue as well as the blue trim on the mats. I do also like the Lilac color as well.
