UK Deliveries

Has anyone in the UK actually taken delivery as yet? My 3.0d was listed as 'Assembly Complete' on the 26th September and the latest status from the 'Genius Team' is that it will be delivered to my dealer after Christmas.
That is at least 3 months from completion. Seems a long time.

I thought week 42 was the start of customer builds, I didn't know they had any before that. If your VIN shows it was a Sept. build, it shouldn't take that long. I have week 45 build that I have a Welt delivery scheduled the week before Christmas for comparisons sake.

Visited 2 dealers on the NW in the last week and both had a pair of cracking looking G01s in there. Back to the top of the class for X3 Id say.

Pics when you get em guys.

Not quite a delivery, but the BMW parts catalog is showing an M40d door threshold. Perhaps a sign of things to come. That illustration is there but there is no part number (yet).

Yep, there was an X4 M40D spotted on the back of a car carrier by Palbay a few months ago.

Alpina just released the D5 S with their new tri-turbo B57, I'm not sure how it's packaged though since it's apparently not available in a RHD config.

I was told by Alpina that will also be available in the UK RHD mid 2018. thing that surprised me is it's got similar power to my 640d, I thought they would have managed a bit more for the UK only version

The LHD version has 388bhp.

It's in the link I posted. The LHD version has 388bhp and the RHD version has 326bhp. It must be a packaging issue with the steering for the RHD version, same thing used to happen with the xDrive variants.

Just buy the LHD version, makes it easier to drive when you come over to the continent.

I think that as the Alpina 5 series is down on diesel power in the UK means we are unlikely to ever see a 535d or a 540d as its too close to the Alpina version.

fingers crossed we get a x3 40d! then it will leave the door open to a decent x3d from Alpina.

Yes - I picked up my new X3 from BMW Park Lane on Saturday. I ordered it as soon as the order books opened in July. I was supposed to get it for launch day on 11th Nov but there was a slight delay.

I'm impressed with it so far - much more refined than the F25.

Congrats!

How do you find 20d? Is it enough for such car? I currently have 320d Touring but thinking if maybe stretching to 30d is needed ... huh decisions decisions... I am test driving 20d this weekend... It would mean I go down 0.4 sec / 100 if I choose 20d from what I have now ... hmmm.
