DTUK CRD3+

Hi

Managed to get a good deal on a used CRD3+ box for my 435d, which I've fitted this afternoon. It took about an hour, the 2 sensors at the back were a bit fiddly but generally easy enough to do.

Having started the car up I noticed Program 2 was flashing with +2 light flashing also which must be the last map used by previous owner, so though I'd test this out first. Now I don't know if I had set expectations too high but it didnt feel night and day different. Maybe it felt a bit quicker but not entirely sure, and I'm certain that there shouldn't be any doubt it.

Came back and changed to Program 1 and went straight to +3 and went for another drive. Again, maybe it's quicker but not mind bending.

I'm wondering whether the car needs to learn the box and vice versa and the difference will become more evident? I've only managed to do a few miles so maybe I'm not being fair and I should give it a few more miles before making a judgement.

I suspect if it wasn't fitted correctly the car wouldn't run or wouldn't run smoothly and I suspect the same if it was a 330d box for example, but it ran perfectly smoothly (almost normal). Maybe it's deceptively fast as the map is so smooth.

Might turn it off and do a few runs and then on again back to back.

Anyone got one of these boxes want to give their feedback? What program does what and what are you running? Anyone had a 35d with CRD3+ on the rollers?

I have a dtuk for the 340 and the difference is noticeable. Mainly due to the curve of the maps where I now get a 330d like shove with over 400lb torque arriving at 2.5k and then still revving up to the red line but now knocking on 400bhp.

I can notice the +1 to +3 difference quite alot in terms of delivery. Have a look at the dtuk website as it may show the rolling road result and power curve.

I’m surprised your not noticing the difference with the box installed! I have one on my 430d and very impressed with performance increase. I think the camshaft sensor can be connected both ways so could be the wrong way round. Speak with dtuk directly they are really helpful from my experience.

Id give dtuk a ring with the box serial number. Theyl tell you which map and model it has on it. Im not sure if they need to be updated when gong from say a euro 5 to euro 6 car either.
