That is the standard fitment for 20s. You should be fine.

Nope. Standard is:
Front: 245/35 R20
Rear: 275/30 R20

You are correct. I state the standard for 19s.

why would you want to do this? it will raise your car albeit slightly.

I'm waiting to use the bigger sizes to fill in the gap between tire and fender. I didn't want to lower it. I've seen the 20's at the dealership and they look rubber bands.

If there is a functional reason for it, then i could understand the desire, but if its purely for aesthetics, don't do it. The gap doesn't look any better because the eye notices the spaces from wheel to fender more than tyre to fender. Then to top it off, the wheels 'look' smaller because of the larger tyre around them.

Decreasing the gap is to usually to give the car a more sporting look, fitting a bigger sidewall tyre does the opposite aesthetically, and it raises the entire car up higher, throws the speedo out and increases the rolling radius making the car slightly slower.

Agreed. I did that on a car long ago to improve the ride. It did make the car look a little strange.

you need spacers instead...

if you add 15mm in the back and 10mm up front they take the wheel out a bit and aesthetically it will enhance the look of the car, including the gap.

I have 15mm rear on at the moment.

I fitted 20mm rear and the 15mm up front at first but didn't like the change in steering and the rear wheels were a touch too far out for me. 15mm on the rear brings the wheel out enough to decrease that massive gap without looking aftermarket. The fronts could support 10mm and also not look OTT, but I have never liked spacers on the front due to what it does to the steering, and this car was no exception.

It does enhance the overall look to bring the wheels out a bit, but I wouldn't say it makes the gap look any less. on 20/15, it actually made the gap more noticeable IMHO, although maybe thats just because I was looking perhaps.

I'm not lowering while the car is so new and the M Sport gap isn't overly 'offensive' on OEM wheels IMO. Usually changing wheels is what makes me think "it needs lowering".

Thanks Guys! Im hoping to make a decision soon with all your feedback. Spacers sound almost like increasing the tire size since this changes steering or suspension no mater what I do

You can't do that, the tire would be off recommended diameter.

You can go for the one size up in width (255/35 and 285/30). It also better fills the wheel arches since there's a direct relation between width and sidewall height of your tires.

Best is to remain in the 3% diameter variance:

Cheers

So you are saying that 255/35 and 285/30 would be ok? How about 255/35 and 285/35?

I cant stand the way the stock tires look, they look like rubber bands to me as well. I need a little more rubber on there and i'm not sure what the best choice of tire sizing would be. Any additional info you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you want "more tire" - buy 19" wheels.

People in this thread are so worried about rolling diameter etc..those days are over. I have to ask how old they are. You have people doing Liberty Walk kits and Air Ride.

My speedometer reads exactly the same as Waze because it's all digital. This isn't the 90s anymore.

Aren't the speedos getting their info from the abs sensors so rolling radius must be key to it ( with a little margin for error to allow for tyre wear)
Does the tyre settings in idrive then influence the speedo in that case?

Thanks for posting the pic and you have answered my question mate

I am getting 669M allloys and wanted to fit tyres same size as yours because 20" OEM G30 tyres are 35/30 profile which look not much tyres and I need more types so not hard on the back .

I know I could get 19" but bigger the better

Did you notice any difference in ride quality or handling with this

It is exactly the same with the exception of the pirelli tires being louder than my stock Michelin's.
