M3 Service Manual

Is there a service manual that we can purchase? I like to do a lot of work on my car myself without having to bring it in to the dealer, but I definitely need a manual for guidance.

Thanks.

Just curious, are you in the US? If so are you still going to do the service yourself verses taking it to the dealer and getting service for free?

With that said I'd also like to have a service manual. I have one for my E36 and it's come in handy many times. I've found that Bentleys usually does a good job.

Ya I'll take it in for the free ones, but isn't that only once a year? I'd also like it so I know how to take apart stuff without relying on the inter web.

Oh and ya I'm in the US.

So, does a factory service manual exist, or should the OP be directed to an alternate topic, for the requested information?

NOTHING beats a factory service manual for THE absolute best information.

BMW TIS

I've been searching hi and low too...as you said, nothing beats a factory service manual. Here is the only thing I've found so far...somewhat cool becasue you never need to worry about having the latest rev or updates but a bummer that you have to pay every time you use it. I personally haven't tried it yet but, if I don't find an alternative, will probablly do so sometime soon (planning on some extensive mods in the near future):

I'd like a service manual too. Not only for mods during warranty, and service after warranty, but to learn more about our cars.

And yes, paying $30 for a freaking day, or $250 for a month is ridiculous. A CD/DVD manual would be great. Maybe later on, once car ages a little.

I don't think there is one out for the public...I'll keep looking. It sounds like Bentley Publishing puts these books out. They have one coming out in Oct 2009 for all recent 3 series except, ofcourse, the M3

Are there any plans for adding service information on the E90 M3 2008 - 2012?

Unfortunately we will not be including M3 service information. While we have included M3 info for earlier models, the E90 M3 engine is much different and would be much more difficult to cover than models in the past.

Really lame ..........

to be honest i think it has something to do with supply and demand. it seems very few E9x M3 owners are into doing things themselves, especially so given that the platform is only recently beginning to get out of warranty. Just look at the disappointing DIY section on this forum compared to that of other cars as an example.

The best bet would be BMW's online TIS. That is technically the official service manual, and what dealers use. The problem is that it's subscription only and for a limited time. It would be good if someone was able to figure out how to download the whole thing and save it as a pdf file.
