Backseat Armrest
So I received delivery of my ‘18 M2 last weekend and discovered the backseat does not have the pull down arm rest and cup holder like I’ve seen on videos. I’m thinking it may be specific to Euro delivered M2’s. Anyone in the USA have this feature on their M2?

I believe it is standard, or maybe optional on CA models. It even makes the folding rear seat 3 way, so it's pretty practical.
I'd have paid extra for this, but it's not available in the US, which is a shame. You can probably do a retro for it, but I bet it would be really expensive. Maybe see if you can find a written off one at a breakers and buy the parts?

In Australia (yeah, not super-helpful!) this is available as an option, but annoyingly, it is labelled as "Through Loading" ... so I dismissed it at the time of ordering as it wasn't something of much value.
Of course, had it been called "Centre Armrest with Through-loading Functionality", I'd have bought it. And here, where everything is double the price of what you guys in the US pay, its only a $250 option (its actually the cheapest of all the options on the car) ... so it must only cost all of USD$100. The rear doesn't need to be luxurious, but on the occasion when you want to bring friends along, it helps a bit with the comfort. |

I can confirm that this is a Euro standard. 40/20/40 (including the armrest) vs. 60/40 US

I think it's a A$350 option, excluding GST (goods and services tax) or LCT (luxury car tax). When you tick that option, you're paying A$500 ultimately.

My 2016 does not have an armrest in the back either.
Just that little ridiculous tray thing. That is useless. No deep enough to hold anything with car movement, no detents for holding a cup, no rubberized bottom to keep stuff from sliding. That is that 'Ridiculous Ting' for? Mike

I interrogated my dealer about the options considering German isn’t my first language. Optional extra here as through loading with ski bag as I recall.

Sure is, and it works great to hold people! This car has way more backseat than my old TT did.
I had my wife, my brother, and his girlfriend all in it last weekend. The 40-20-40 rear seat is a European option, or standard in Canada. I suspect because of hockey sticks? I tried to ask for this option in the US and my dealer told me they can't get it.

Standard in Canada. If you don't want it and are willing to trade seatbacks, I'm interested...
