G30 530e / 540 Winter Setup

Hi Guys, looking for everyone's thoughts and experiences on the various tire choices for a winter setup on the G30.

Wheel wise I'm going to go with 19's on a set of square 664M wheels.

Key questions:

1. Should I stick with the 245 40 19 Tire spec. ?
Or...downsize to either:

a) 235 45 19
b) 225 45 19

2. Tire Choice:
a) Pirelli Sottozero 3 RFT
b) Pirelli Sottozero 3 non RFT
c) Michelin xIce xi3
d) Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4

Thanks in advance for everyone's feedback!

I'd say go with the 245/40/19 size, but since you're in Canada you might want to go with the Michelin x-ice xi3 since that's a proper snow and ice tire.

I used Xice3 for 3 seasons on F30 and they were great. Good traction, no road noise and overall good ride. I am going to get them in 19" set up for G30.

Good to know. I had xi3 on my F10 for a number of seasons as well and found them to be quiet, handle well and deliver great fuel economy too.

Curious to know if anyone has had much experience with the Pirelli's or Michelin PA4's?

A buddy has the PA4s on his 7 series and highly recommends them.

I went with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 in 245/45 R18, this is a nordic "style" tire.
Had to try some thing different after running Continental ContiVikingContact 5/6 for the last couple of seasons and feeling that there where some "wobbely" feel to them on different vehicles (E91 & Skoda).
The hakka tires seemes to be more stable althoug only 250 km ob them...
