New X3 exterior colors... suck?
Anyone else lamenting the lack of a good grey? We basically have 3 blacks, a white, blue, and bright silver. No medium grey, like Space or Mineral Grey? Come on!!!

Honestly, I’ve had so many grey, black, and white cars the past decade that I’m feeling the phytonic blue this time around. Jet black, Platinum grey, mineral white, meteor grey, pepper grey.

Thanks for giving me my afternoon laugh (at least its afternoon here). Someone lamenting the "lack of a good grey". For me that's a big tick and a very positive move by BMW. If we end up with a G01 X3, ours will be the phytonic blue.

Not just BMW. I can't believe the lack of color in all the cars being produced today. Nothing but white, black, and silver on the highways! Not that we need the teal and orange cars of the 80's, but come on!! I, too, ordered the Phytonic Blue!!

The colors are limited and the lack of a red interior is disappointing. Other than Fiona Red which isn't on the USA menu yet. I tried to get my wife to like the Phytonic Blue, but she wanted Alpine White like I have.

Spoke with a couple dealers, and they all say individual or custom colors won’t be offered because “the spartanburg factory isn’t setup for it”. You can do any other car, just none manufactured at Spartanburg, SC - x5, x3,x6, etc. supposedly they’re working on dding that capability, but no ETA.

They may be able to order them, but I was told they won't be available until mid Nov. production.

I think he was referring to Individual colours that are outside of the chosen Individual palette for the model. In X3's case, only Individual colour available (for UK) is Sunstone Metallic. If I wanted San Marino Blue, for example, then I would not be able to spec it whereas I could for models built in Europe.

For UK peeps, I actually got a genius who didnt just give the usual 'we dont have info' line and gave me a date of 27th November for which BMW Individual options will be available on the new X3 i.e Full Merino leather etc. Hope thats true cos normally it's a good 6 months after launch before Indiv stuff appears! Includes Piano Black trim which isn't on the config at the moment, only dark options are gay looking woods

All car manufacturers (at least the European ones) have cut down their color choices drastically over the last 10-15 years. Wifey tells me to buy any car I want as long as it has blackout window trim and she gets to pick the colors, outside and in. She loves dark green, which Porsche, MB and BMW used to have but now no longer offer, even in custom (although you can get that color in Paint-to-Sample in Porsche). Dark reds have also dropped off the charts. It's got to be a bottom-line thing (i.e. consolidation of options) but it stinks so much that now my wife doesn't even care about colors. We had to go with Carbon Black Metallic for the X3 M40i I bought yesterday.
