My brand new replacement N63 installed by BMW as well as turbos with 8k miles on them do this every morning.
Dealer said its condensation in the exhaust so I'm not worried about it. This is my 2nd engine, what's the worst that can happen with this car now. |

I'm certain it's not condensation. It's definitely white smoke and it lingers around... I wonder if the oil that my car "consumes" if it's sitting in the turbos and getting burned upon start up?

Oil has a blue tint to it. Fuel burns black. White smoke = Coolant or water and they don't burn differently than the other. If you're that worried about it, take it to get diagnosed and have your turbo seals checked. Next time it happens, look to see if the smoke has a light blue tint to it, Valve Stem Seals are notorious for going bad. |

White smoke definitely coolant. Take a look in your coolant reservoir and see if it's milky. If it is than you got a blown head gasket. I know on the turbo side of things it could be the turbos?

Can anyone confirm that CCP covers valve stem seals? Are they considered "wear" items I wonder??

The smoke is whitish gray/blue tint. It was really heavy tonight after sitting all day at the office. It has a sharp smell to it, chemical, but not sweet like coolant. Maybe burnt coolant?
It dissipates mostly after the cold start mode where the engine settles to a lower idle and it sounds like the valve chatter gets quieter. http://sendvid.com/feb7li0c

I’m betting it’s your CCV. Your valve stem seals are probably on their way out but still doing their job. When those go bad you notice smoke at a long light while you pull off, you’ll see it.
The only way you’re going to know is by taking it to get it looked at, it could be a variety of things or a combination of things. CCV is a common failure on BMW’s and they cause this exact issue, I think it was covered under CCP too |
