Ticking sound at idle?
Hi, I had an oil leak from my oil housing onto my serpentine belt. I started getting a ticking sound identical to this:
I replaced my belt, tensioner, and idler pulley but the tick is still there, just not very loud. It only occurs when the engine idles down to 600 rpm. It seems to be louder when the air is very humid or rainy. As soon as I touch the throttle it goes away, then a few seconds later after idling down it starts again. I tried taking off the oil filler cap and it doesn't get louder so I think my engine is k. I put like 20000km on the car since I replaced the belt stuff and nothing has changed but the tick still bothers me and I wanna figure it out already. My dad is a licensed mechanic, but doesn't know anything about BMWs. He said "I would just drive it". Lol. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

Mine does the same, I don't think it is an issue or has a fix, right?

I pulled the belt off today and I don't hear it. I think it's just a pulley and I'm not going to worry about it. I replaced belt, tensioner, and idler pulley but it's still present, just quieter. It's weird that you can hear it only when it's idled all the way down to 600 rpm though.
