All,
I'm looking at a 2011 328i x drive for my girlfriend. I found one that meets her appearance criteria (white/saddle brown) and also has low mileage at 46k miles.

The car drove nicely, but we noticed one issue that threatens to stop the purchase.

As you approach a stop, within maybe 2 or 3 mph from a stop, you can feel (and very minorly hear) a thump and mild jolt from below the rear seat area. The rpms do not change when this occurs, and it occurs even when you have the car in manual 1. To me it felt like a slightly rough downshift from 2nd to 1st, but that is not the case.

From my research, I have found that this may be related to the soft stop function. This thump/mild jolt does not occur under hard braking.

So I have a few questions:

1. Has anyone else felt this and, if so, what did it end up being?
2. If this is related to the soft stop, can this be removed via a flash or some other coding means?
3. If one just plants their foot on the brake without the standard slight pressure release that you do to stop smoothly, is this reduced or eliminated?
4. Is there anything else you think may be causing it?
5. If it is soft stop and it can't be coded out, is there anything that would cause it to be better or worse on one particular car?

From what I've gathered the 2011 no longer has the neutral idle thing and this does not appear to be transmission related.

This thump doesn't appear to be damaging to the car, but it sure is annoying.
