First problem - screaming speakers with no off

So, drove home normally last night listening to my Enhanced Premium Sound. Put the car in the garage, no problem. This morning when I open the door this loud wooshing sound starts coming from the back seat. I figured out quickly that it was white noise coming from the rear deck speakers at almost full volume. The car was not on. I tried everything, turning it on and off, adjusting the fader, changing inputs--nothing would stop it. Eventually I put in ear plugs and dropped it at the dealer.

Crazy! My car is 2 months old and has almost 2k miles on it.

You must have gotten the ultra-exclusive Hell's Demon Scream package. You know, the one that broadcasts live from the depths of the Earth. Well played.

Oh man that sucks. At least they weren't your headlights and you didn't end up with a dead battery. That is weird though. Don't think I've ever hear of that happening before to any pair of channels on a stereo of any kind.

Make sure you let us know the culprit.

Update

Dealer just called--car is fixed. They replaced the radio tuner. How that could cause the symptoms, I don't know.

From invoice:

"Cause: 5387 IBOC tuner defective
98 Misc. repair
5387 WBMW
1 65-12-119-363 IBOC tuner: 65999912

1972 IBOC tuner defective checked faults, ran test plan, installed new radio tuner. Recode to veh as needed."

I lost my presets, but otherwise seems to be working.

Have you had the problem again since they replaced the radio?

My dealership is still trying to figure this out for my car. I have had the loud tones blaring on the speaker as well as no audio.

Please let me know if you or anyone else is having the issue, and if anyone has gotten a fix so I can let my dealer know.

Thanks.

Also: Another thread with what seems to be the same issue:

Me too, as I live ~450 miles from the nearest dealer...that would be a LONG drive.

Whoa, that is a very odd problem, especially with the car off. I'd think that replacing the speaker would also be included in the solution, but who knows. Hope it doesn't happen again, Greg.

Not to revive an old post, but I just had the exact thing happen to me....

I unplugged the fiber optic cable into the amp and it stopped.

Taking her in this week for my 1200 mile, so will try to get it fixed then.

Same happened to me today

My 2008 M3 Premium Sound was parked in my garage overnight. Opened the door and the loudest screaming static noise was coming primarily through my Left speakers. My ears are still ringing. I dropped it off at BMW this morning but I have a feeling those idiots wont find anything wrong with it.

Sorry, I know this is an old post but doesn't seem like anyone has posted a problem like this since.

Thanks

I had the same problem. Dealer replaced my amp, which also fixed my random IDRIVE reboot problems.

I have a random audio issue as well but doesn't seem to be the same as stated above. Trips to the dealer are way too time consuming. Need to find some solutions here.
