How to properly hook up battery charger to e90 battery

Hi guys, i have an e90 B3 thats dead, i currently have a charger running to its battery but after a whole day of it charging car is still completey dead. I have the cables hooked up to the screws that hold the terminal clamps onto the battery in place. Do i need to hook the cables directly up to the battery terminals itself or will them being attatched to those screws still charge the battery. Can i hook the charger to the terminals under the hood? Thanks guys

The connection are under hood. There's a red cap on positive on passenger side rear of strut tower and negative is a little silver rod that sticks out parallel to the ground about an inch that's front of passenger strut tower

I would think hooking it directly to the battery is better but then again, the battery is directly connected to the posts under the hood, so maybe it doesn't matter. I was thinking of charging mine as well, since I'm getting the increased discharge warning, just not sure what to dial the trickle charger to, unless a trickle charger won't help...

It's recommended to charge the battery through the engine bay terminals as that passes through the IBS.

It doesn't matter where you charge it. It merely keeps tabs on a few variables, incl that are sent over to the DME to calculate an overall state of health. The DME determines the appropriate charging map with all of the variables in this data. The primary indicator of the state of health of the battery, though, occurs during vehicle start.

Thank you, the city isn't as bad as the news makes it seem! My house got about 3 inches of water, but i've already cleared everything up. My only fear were the cars lol! I left the b3 at mt moms place as it doesn't flood and for 4 days was stuck at my home. Never lost power for a second though!

Good that you are ok, but does seem many are affected and lot of damage.
How much power your b3 makes and curious how you bought it? Get a chance post a pic of the engine bay. Guess its n54?

Good news, just jumped it and it started right up. Some bad news too as it went into transmission limp mode, i don't know if the battery has a low voltage or if there exists a more serious problem. The car did just have its transmission rebuilt about 3 months ago...wondering if these two issues are connected.

I believe it makes about 360 HP stock. I purchased it in Greece as I was in love with its styling and rarity. I'll take some engine pics later, but yes it is an n54 biturbo engine.

You've probably got one of the rarest E90s in the USA!
