Rush movie by Ron Howard

"Rush" is a 2013 movie about the 1976 F1 season rivalry between Niki Lauda (driving for Ferrari) and James Hunt (McLaren), directed by Ron Howard.

I'm late to the party, only viewing the film for my first time this past week. For anyone who hasn't yet watched this film, what are you waiting for?! As motorsports fans, the story speaks to us about one of the great F1 rivalries, and circles back with comments from Lauda himself. But even for those without an interest in motorsports, the movie is worth the time to watch. It isn't only about the story, rather how the story is told. Ron Howard does a fine job of capturing the extreme contrast in personalities between Hunt, the impulsive British playboy, and Lauda, the methodical and intellectual Austrian. The film also captures the sense of risk and danger that are inextricably a part of the sport during the era.

Check Rush out, you'll probably enjoy it.

Great Flick. Being a Ron Howard film you know it's a well done movie ... definitely underrated. It's a must watch for any F1 fan ... or racing fan, really.

Great movie. If you're a fan of this story (or cars, or racing at all!), I would also highly recommend James Hunt The Biography by Gerald Donaldson.

I heard in an interview (maybe even on UK Top Gear?) that they brought a bunch of these 70s F1 cars out to the track with a bunch of pro drivers to shoot the racing scenes, but the owners of the cars were having too much fun out on the track, and they ended up getting all the footage they needed while the pro drivers were still sitting in the pits! I can't find a source to back this up, but I thought it was a funny anecdote.

The scene where Nikki Laura met his wife to be was excellent. She had no idea who, and what, he was.

delmarco I was going to say 'not a single one' but decided to research it, and it turns out there is a 1966 BMW 2000 in the background of one of the scenes! Otherwise no .. no BMWs.
