Hey guys,

I just picked up my 17,240i and it's an absolute rocket! I previously owned 2 135i,09',12',M3 10' and 1M 11'. I was a little worried about the xdrive but wow! It feels like a rear wheel drive car. Love it!

Don't know how to post pics but it's mineral white, premium, executive and smart phone connectivity. It's also auto and it shifts as well as I remember the M3 shifting.

Got a crazy deal, over $4000 off and 0.9% financing! Crazy.

Greg

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. How much negotiating did it take to get them to knock 4k off the MSRP? Was it already on the lot or did you custom order it?

It was in the showroom, it was timing and the fact that this is my 6th BMW in 11 years.

It's exactly what I would have spec'd out except the xdrive but I really enjoyed the xdrive and I'll be adding the Dinan tune to put me at 498 torque when I break the engine in. I wish I could have added it with the 0.9% financing but I'm an OCD guy and didn't want all the power in a new engine etc.

At your request and yes it had the Dinan exhaust with N55 mid pipe. Glorious sound!

The reference to the cars I've owned/own was to show how impressed I am with this 240i and specifically how the xdrive handles in comparison to my previous rear wheel drive cars for those that have the debate-rwd vs xdrive.

I have no clue what message you think I was sending! Something wrong with you dude!

I would put a clear bra on the front as soon as you can. The alpine white paint is super thin and the front of the car gets rock chips super easily, I picked up a 240 8 months ago and amount of rock chips I have is absurd.

I have not done it, I wish I did. My plan is to have the front bumper repainted after this winter and wrap it in the spring.

Yep no problem. Mine is also xdrive and I love it. Just a heads up for when it is broken in, if you put it in sport plus while it is wet outside and you hit the gas in a corner, the back end will break lose just like RWD cars do, its a rather impressive AWD system. It is also a rocket coming out of corners, there is so much grip. Overall it is such a fun car, you made a good choice

I did the whole front of my car, the mirrors, cup handles, door edges and rear bumper trunk area. I'm almost regretting not doing the whole car.

Welcome the the rather small Canadian club - lots more chat in the general forums!

I normally congratulate those on the new car right away, but Harvey kept me off the forums. Luckily no flooding for me.

I am genuinely happy for those who get a new toy, I know that feeling.

I found that the clear coat is really soft. To the point that tiny dents will self heal over time. I decided not to do a clear bra for a few reasons (have to redo with time, have to redo if there's damage or a scuff, larger stones can dent the soft clear coat underneath the protection). I've only had my 240 for a couple months but so far I've managed to keep it pretty clean in the front. There were a few scratches but nothing that an extremely light polishing couldn't get out.

How do you like your 240 compared to your 1m? I really wanted the 1m but at the time I couldn't jump on it.

I absolutely love the 240i and in a lot of ways it feels quicker to drive and for some reason I sit Way lower than the 1M. This new engine in this little car is nuts.I only have 500kms on this car so time will tell but I love it so far.

If I don't drive this in the winter I will hold off on the clear bra.
