E93 roof rattle and runflats
Hi all
So I have the dreaded roof rattle on my beloved 335i. I tried looking into a DIY a while back and it doesn't seem as simple as it sounds nor have I really gotten to it. I have runflats on my car. I love them. They have saved me from many a flat tire (lots of debris always on LA freeways) so I don't want to get rid of them. However, if getting conventional tires FIXES the roof rattle, I will be willing to make that trade off. Can anyone verify if this would stop the roof rattle? |

Probably not going to fix it. The locks need an adjustment. Not sure how user serviceable it is. There was a TSB out at some point for the locks at the windshield.

It isn't going to fix the rattle. You don't describe where the noise is coming from bu there are some areas that allow adjustment especially the top of the windshield to roof.
Also have you checked to make sure all bumpers are in place? Review the thread http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=609222 Yes it is a long thread but there are some nuggets in there regarding rattle, tension strings and I recall a couple places bumpers were discussed... |

There was also a tsb about a wiring harness in the roof that rattles.

My rattle sounds like it's coming from the top left corner of the roof. Put it this way if I put my hand there the rattle stops. I was wondering if non-runflats cushioned enough to stop the rattle.

There are two fixes. The first is to add washers to the centering pins on the HT panel which meets the cowl, the second is to remove the latch assembly and invert a couple of springs. |
