Real FIX for the auto folding mirror not stopping where it should

I have been having this problem for a few months now and refused to get a replacement mirror. Found this solution posted on another site and decided to try it out before getting a mirror replacement.

I tried many many times to pull the mirror in all the way, click the mirror button, and click it again and it folding back into place. This never worked for me.

Solution:
1. Remove mirror cap
2. Drill a small hole down through the first layer with a 1/4" drill
3. You'll know you drilled far enough when you see the exposed hole.
4. The small hole is already exposed so you do not drill this hole.
5. Spray some WD40 into the hole and use a small allen wrench or a 1/16" drill bit to stick in there and push with some force (nothing will happen but will loosen the pin a bit)
6. Bring your mirrors all the way in
7. Click the mirror button and as the mirror is folding out push down into that hole with your small allen wrench or 1/16" bit. (basically you are manually pushing the pin down instead of relying on the spring)

At this point you can spray some WD40 or lithium grease in the hole to hopefully loosen the pin. Or snip the white wire to remove the folding function to this mirror, and eliminate the chance of this happening again.

Thanks man, hopefully this ends this damn issue once and for all.

How did you get this solution? I mean how did you know to drill that hole there?

I've only folded my mirrors a handful of times in 8 years, and they missed half the time. I just don't fold them. :/

Is this an issue with pre-LCIs only?

That is not the real fix! This is the real deal fix!

Seriously though, if you don't have access to a welder, there is nothing wrong trying to fix by drilling into.
