Help car stuck in Garage !!!!

If Anyone could help me with this problem it would be appreciated.

2009 BMW with N52 engine, 33k miles

Crank, no start

Car was running fine. Parked in garage for 2 weeks, now will not start.

Items checked;

--Engine rotates as the rpm shows 2-300 rpm when attempting to start
--I smell fuel after attempting to start
-- I tested spark, it is present
-- Charged battery and also had it tested--its good
--I sprayed quick start into throttle body, but did not start

( I did notice throttle plate was in the closed position when cranking. I would have thought that it would be partially open )

Check with generic OBD II reader---no codes

Any ideas?

Cheers

you need to check all spark plugs and camshaft sensor
and it is better to check for codes using INPA cable and INPA or Rheingold software

Your imobolizer may be ingaged, preventing spark. Was your alarm also on? I've read about this happening, my car sits during the winter months but never ran into his, it won't be showing any codes,so don't start replacing parts. As long as you have full battery power, and it's cranking over, check into this , also to be safe, put a fuel presume gage on it to check fuel pressure. There is no code for this.

If the immobilizer is the problem, I though the car would not crank. I was under the assumption that immobilizer shuts off starter.

I will need to check fuel pressure somehow

Mine had the same issue and after many hours and several techs, it was my IBS! Sounds like this could be your issue also!

I tried another reader and found the following codes. Airbag, ABS and immobilizer. I did disconnect the battery to charge it. Not sure if some of these codes were triggered because of it.

Now the car turns over and starts for about 1-2 sec then stops.

Cleared the above codes but the same symptoms occur.

Since I sprayed starter fluid into throttle body and it did not start would this not lean towards the issue not being fuel related. Could the immobilizer be the culprit. I thought the immobilizer unit just stopped signal to the starter?

Thanks

I just remembered a post about a panel (can't remember the acronym) under the passenger side of the dash.

I believe it was a cable that severed or broke away which caused issues such as the ones your describing IIRC.

I will do a quick search and post back ASAP.

The issue is the "lack of driving" 33k miles only?

on a serious note...check your fuel pump. Do you hear it going? check fuses...

That may be the ground cable that corrodes over time, usually it will tho codes if that frays. If you have no cel light showing, codes won't be present. There are no codes for no fuel pressure, or power to coils. There will be codes for coils only when there is a misfire wihile the car is running, not a no start. Imobilizers only cut power to coils, not fuel, check all your fuses at the ecu to be on he safe side. Make sure you keep a charge on this, constant cranking will kill the starting systems and codes will start popping up.

The car would not crank if it was a ground cable issue...
