Clunking when accerelating from low rpm?
Hey, my -06 335i MT has recently started to make strange noise when accerelating.
If i floor it from low rpm (1-2k), i get maybe 3 to 6 times a clunking/knocking sound from somewhere front (atleast sounds like it to cabin). Knocking sounds somewhat soft, not really metal to metal type..? After i pick some speed and rpm's go past 2-3k sound is gone, only happens when flooring from low rpm and i think it's easier to produce with higher gear like 3 and 4. No clunks/knocks at all when revving engine at neutral, only happens when driving. What could be possible culprit? some mounts? hopefully nothing inside engine. Thanks. edit: Downpipe was touching the heatshield, guess i somehow missed that during the install. Anyway ended up bending the heatshield abit to make clearance, didn't feel comfortable twisting and trying to reposition downpipes. No more knocking during accerelation! Thanks again Last edited by Beisofmarko; 10-05-2017 at 12:47 PM.. Reason: Problem solved. |

Check your motor and trans mounts for play first, DP clearance if you have aftermarkets.

Gonna look at trans mounts. I installed VRSF catless downpipes last month, after installation we checked for clearance and they seemed to not touch anything, but maybe need to take a look again. |
