HPFP and Dealer is saying No Ext Warranty on 2012 335is

So over the weekend run up to 7-11 and when I went to leave, the car started but immediately received the "Engine Malfunction, Reduce Power" Message and shut itself down. Started it again got the same Message and the car shut off. Waited 5 mins car started, No Message, so I back out and drive about 100 yds and the Engine Malfunction Message came back up and car shut itself down and I pulled off the road.

I Had it towed to BMW and they just called and said that it has Fuel Issue Codes and that they want to replace the HPFP and possibly update the LPF sensor. $1900 and that it is not covered under the Extended Warranty.
So BMW extended the Warranty for the earlier N54's over this issue but not the later N54T Motors. We all know that it is the Same Motor with a different tune. This will be the 3rd HPFP in 62k miles.

I placed a call to BMWNA and they started a Claim for Assistance but I have a feeling that they will balk somehow on this which is Total BS.
Same Motor, Same HPFP issues that the N54 suffers from.

FML!!!!

Question

You say this was the third time inside 62k miles. How was it handled the last 2 times you replaced the HPFP?

The only reason I can think of that BMW is denying an obvious warranty claim is if the previous labor was performed and the parts replaced occurred outside of a BMW and the HPFP was a generic or aftermarket part.

They are denying it because the 2011-2013 N54T HPFP is not included in the original Extended Warranty. Even though, It's the same part number too!
All previous pumps were replaced by Dealer using the original 4yr/50k miles Warranty.

isnt there a type of warranty for the part they installed on the car.

Meaning if they installed a replacement part last year, that part should still have at least a year warranty or X amount of mileage.

First was done in 2013, second in 2014 and now this in 2017 so even the 2 year parts warranty is up on the replacement pump.

If they won't warranty it, I will buy the pump and do it myself. Never have done one but looked at the DYI and it's not too bad I think. My guy in the Parts Department said he would sell me one at $580 which is cheaper than even Tischer and he feels like BMW should warranty it too.

UPDATE:
So BMWNA called me and said they had called the dealer and that the dealer would be calling me. Dealer called me 10mins later and said that they would sell me the part at employee price and discount the labor with an out-the-door price of $1050 including updated LPF sensor. I'm happy with this.
BMW should extend their warranty to cover this! YES, they should but have not done so as of yet so until then this is not total bad outcome overall.
Come to find out My Part's Guy and Service Associate that I use at the dealer, both went to bat for me with BMW and the Service Manager and that helped a lot.
Not the best situation but could have been much worse.

I'm not totally happy but the Extended Warranty does not cover N54T motors, they haven't included them as of yet. Yes, this is BS but it is what it is.
If it is like the Intake Charge Pipes on the N54T, and if BMW does include the N54T HPFP at a later date, then BMW will reimburse me for the work.

Yeah if I saw that on a Carfax I would have avoided that car.

The thing seems to be that once you replace a pump on any given E90 N54 then that car will have a higher than average chance of having a future pump failure. No one knows why...

Because the pumps are still crap.
Been through 4 or 5 under warranty. I can't remember.

Exactly!
Some cars have went almost decade and hundreds of thousands of miles without so much as a hiccup! Other cars go thru plenty of HPFP replacements over the same period!

The first thing even before accidents and mileage rollbacks that I look for on a N54 BMW vehicle's carfax in any mention of HPFP service! Usually if you see a Carfax with one
HPFP service there is usually two or three replacements.
I run for the hills!

Problem is Carfax doesn't show this or at least the Carfax I pulled, did not.

It takes a BMW Service History to get this information, which I got once I purchased the car and had it ran through my Parts Guy at the dealer.

My 08 Sedan had been through 2 in 60k. Sucks because I really like this car but replacing HPFP every couple of years may make me just lease a Newer BMW or take a look at some Audis S4's.

Strange...I have seen HPFP on CarFax...heck you even see wiper blade replacements on Car Fax.

I think some dealerships may log it and some may not.

In fact I'm not even sure how such a thing gets to Car Fax to begin with.

Yeah, that's why you can't always depend on CarFax even for accidents because it only reports what's been reported.

If a person wrecks their car but fails to turn it into Insurance and just pays out of pocket then the chances of it showing up are slim to none.

Never a problem with my early 07. The recall replaced the pump which was working well and I am in Florida too. I just can't figure out why some cars eat fuel pumps or for that mater water pumps.
Hopefully this is the last pump you will need.
Do feel BMW has fallen down on the job regarding test before sell. I recently sold my BMW and will not be planning to buy another since I felt I was a beta tester for BMW regarding the 335.
I bought BMWs because they handled well and were reliable. In fact my M3 BMW was the most reliable car I ever owned and I regret selling it.
No more the luster is off the marque for me regarding BMW but hope you have great success...

whats crazy is that the n54 was covered for 10 years or 100k miles on all n54 models except for the 335is which uses the same hpfp for that matter they use the same one in n55's but i guess because that wasn't in the class action lawsuit 335is and n55 owners are out of luck. but even crazier than that... luckily if your car is registered in california emissions warranty covers you for 7 years or 70k miles. sucks that your car isn't covered OP but it just has to do with where you're located. absolute nonsense. maybe one day someone raises hell and all that had to pay out of pocket can get reimbursed.
