CG Precision Ds-1 5" catted downpipe

Hi,

https://www.cgprecision.com/#!/DS-1-...egory=17975141

Would this downpipe fit an M240i?
Seeing as most downpipes made for B58 fit all x40i models. Was hoping if people would think this downpipe would fit? Seems they have only tested on 340i's so they haven't listed it to fit other x40i's.

Heard this downpipe on a few 340is and they seem to sound good through videos. A lot less rasps/tinny in comparison to all catless downpipes for b58

Thanks, would be good to hear what you guys think

Everything I have read / seen says that a downpipe that fits the 340i will fit the 240i.

That's what I thought. Really want this downpipe but worried to be the first to try it.

Anybody else have any idea?

I'd love to have a lower restriction catted DP as well, however I am not willing to deal with CEL's. While the lower restriction DP does free up the motor, I got a Dinantronics Elite and it really woke up the car - so I am ok with that for now.

From what I'm reading/understanding is the 240i's have a computer limit to the amount of power that can be added. It appears even basic piggyback tunes sometimes bump up on this hard limit AA8 tune is example, and thus adding a downpipe or using E85 isn't really a benefit as you'll hit that limit. Until a flash tune is out, or some kind of work around for piggybacks to get around the hard limit, other than better sound, a downpipe seems not so desirable when matched with a tune.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as it wouldn't be the first time.

I haven't heard this one yet. Where did you read that? I want to know more.

The B58 engine which is in the M240i and the 340, 440, 540, 640, 740 etc does have a fueling cap in the ECU. This means that the once certain parameters are hit the engine will pull timing and adjust fueling to limit the power. This is hard coded into the ECU - until someone cracks it, it is the limiting factor unless you get a JB4 and methanol injection.

So, what is the power limit before timing starts pulling? I know that is a complicated question but throwing it out there anyway.

I have this sport cat downpipe installed. Fits much better than the VM catless DP. Granted, I think my vm catless was manufactured wrong and it wouldn't seal entirely at the turbo (had carbon deposit all on the top of the gasket and DP when I removed it). Exhaust is a little quieter, but still screams at WOT.

Upper 300's at the wheels without meth. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm around 370 whp SAE with JB4 Map 3 on 93 octane and BMS intake (stock DP). Hoping for around 410 with 50/50 meth/water (Boost Juice).
