Stock spoiler measurements

So, after my dealer completely cocked up my M Performance Spoiler installation, and then the reinstallation of the stock spoiler, I'm going to attempt to reinstall the stock spoiler myself. What I could use is some measurements from someone who has the stock spoiler still attached to his/her car. I think all I need is a measurement from the very tip of the spoiler to the very tip of the trunk lid, where it meets the rear window. This image should show the measurement I'm looking for.

If you can help me out that'd be awesome.

your really looking into this too deep.

Take the old one off. Clean the area.

Place it on the car where you think it looks best, use painters tape to mark off the sides and the front, rear.

Peel 3m tape, and place on your markers.

There are about 6 howtos in this forum, plus hundreds of videos on youtube.

It's really not that hard

I'm not asking how to do it. I know that. I want to get it in the right place, hence my reason for asking for numbers. I don't want to just eyeball it. THat's what the dealer did and it didn't fit right.

Honestly brian is right. And coming from a constructiom guy who deals with this type of thing on a daily basis, you install everthing off of controll lines. From there you adjust it to look good visially because that is what matters in the end.

The spoiler will want to sit in the right spot naturally. From there the only thing you would really want to measure is the distance from the tip of the spoiler to the trunk joint. You just want to make sure that both sides are even.

The only way to measure that small of a distance accurately is with a dialed caliper, i think its a couple mm.

When we are talking in the couple mm range it then becomes a question of manufacturing tolerances. Also human error of installation. At this point you are asking another cars trunk and spoiler to be exactly the same size, the person measuring to take a perfect mesurment and be using a very precise measuring tool, from the exact location you will be measuring from.

All that being said. Shoot me a pm with an email address and ill send you a couple pictures i have time. I dont know how to mobile upload them and dont have a computer on me.

I ended up just eyeballing it. I had taken pictures of the stock spoiler before the dealer removed it so I just used that as a reference point. Looks pretty good, but it's all taped down at the moment so I'll get a better look in a day or so when I pull off the tape.

Good man. As long as it looks ok to you that's all that really matters. Not like we're talking about an F1 car where if you have your aero off a milometer you're going to kill yourself.
