Boy, the new gen XC60 is a looker...

Got some nice features, beautiful interior and of course Volvo safety. I've been driving BMW's for over 2 decades, but the T6 is definitely on my next car radar.

Only wish they had a 6 in it and it was still a Swedish company...Will be interested to see how smooth (or not) the petrol T6 is here in North American hp and torque spec.

I agree the new XC60 looks good both inside and out. But - in my opinion - it still lags behind BMW and the G01 X3 with its engines and the functionality of the iDrive system vs Volvo's Sensus system. Volvo's twin-charged T6 engine is certainly impressive but doesn't return anywhere near its claimed fuel economy particularly around town/city. Despite coming from a history of Volvos, we made the decision 6 years ago to get our F25 X3 (our first BMW) over the then 1st generation XC60. Don't see things changing this time around.

While Chinese owned, Volvo is still very much a Swedish car company with all R&D and engineering still done in Sweden. While initial deliveries of the new XC60 will come from Sweden (Torslanda), eventually US supply for all the new 60 Series Volvos will switch to the new plant in the US (Charleston, SC) sometime in 2018 I understand. Here in Australia, we could be eventually heading toward supply from Chinese factories.

As said: all development is in Göteborg - including new "Electronic Center" to be set up.

There are, currently, no plans to move manufacturing of XC60 outside of GBG.

Volvo - and Land Rover (see Velar)- has found a "new" design language with proportions and surfaces, which gives a very positive impression.

Comparing XC60 with G01, some people will think G01 is cluttered, while others will find it "sporty".

T8, currently, has too short electric range, but T6 with in-house tuning is interesting.
There were at introduction, some scary weight figures, but recent tests by Teknikens Värld, which weighs test vehicles, indicates that XC60 is on par with most, but slightly heavier than G01 and MB.

That's interesting that comment. I was one of those who was shocked when details of the SPA XC60 were first released regarding the rather porky weight of the new model. I'll have to check the revised numbers. As an aside, for me weight has been one of the disappointing aspect of all the new Volvos after the initial promises a couple of years ago that the SPA platform would bring about weight reductions. The weight differences between the new S90 and V90 and similarly powered G30/G31 5 Series are almost at the point of being embarrassing for Volvo.
