This is all going very differently than when the F10 M5 order bank opened. When the F10 M5 was available for ordering back in May of 2012 (for Americans) we already knew what the entire car would look like and exactly how much it would cost. With the F90 M5 customers don't know either of those things as of this writing.

Also, I'm willing to bet that all F90 M5's will come out of dealer allocation for American European Delivery and with ED orders only getting 5% discount as standard, as opposed to 7% that we used to get, and now no MSD program, Americans will pay a lot more for the launch of this F90 M5 than what we paid when the F10 M5 first came out. All of these things combined lead to a bad deal for a car that is going to depreciate to around 50% value in 3 years. I at least hope the F90 M5 will come with adjustable side bolsters for the first model year that Americans will get it. :

Dave has often commented about his disappointment with the G90 m5 and said he is not getting one. I am on the fence and will make my decision after I get some seat time in one. It is tentatively on my short list.

I'll wait a few years to maybe either get an Individual LCi with Comp Package brand new for Euro Delivery or pick up a used LCi with Comp Package for 50% off MSRP. But honestly there are other cars I'd rather get, or other projects I'd rather spend money on that will offer more enjoyment than another M5 with the same exact engine as my F10 M5. Expect no ED 5% discount for the 1st year.

Are these 2018 models in the US? If so, you can use corporate fleet discount still. I see it shows 2500 for 18 model year.

Wow! I didn't know the MSD program had been discontinued. Looks like I got my car just in time -- before changes to the European Delivery, Maintenance, and now, MSD programs. Love the Bimmers, but this is a Bummer.

Yes, you better believe it. Especially for Pre-LCi models.

Smart move.im thinking the same after I bought a 2012 F30 and help BMW iron out their drama.

Agreed. Taking orders over a month before the full M5 reveal is highly suspicious. Feels like the ///M Division is being stretched too thin with all the new SUV models and GTS, CS, etc and as a result, the core products are suffering.

It's all beginning to feel like a money grab...

This is fair. Though I suspect open the order bank at this point is more about dealer inventory/demos than customer sales.

......but you know you can't replace the experience of driving around Europe in a brand new m5 that just came out.
I need to figure out how to downsize the garage and I will try to pick one up.

Ordering a car with no price and official reveal is like buying cat in the bag. Also with no MSD's and no ED and U.S. discounts leases will be in the range of $1500-$1700.00. BS IMO

Exactly. Very high lease payments indeed.

This is very true. These cars are really just dealer demo cars, but most dealers will sell theirs at quite the markup with some of them even catering to customer requests for specifications so the customer can be the first kid on the block with the new toy. It's always been like this. But buying a car without even knowing what it will look like or knowing if it will have adjustable side-bolsters, lets just say I've been there done that, and it's not worth it.

Ok my friend you got me there. Being one of the first people in the world to take the new M5 on the Nurburging was a pretty awesome experience.

Oh, how much you want for your E39? I might want to take it off your hands.
