Exclamation QUESTION - New wheels, car throwing "brake" code

I just had my new DPE prototypes (19x8.5 front, 19x9.5 rear) installed. they look sick of course, pics soon to be posted. they have TPMS sensors installed.

Anyhow, the car starts throwing this code to check the brakes. As far as I can tell no braking performance problems at all - aside from the light, I cannot discern any issue whatsoever with the braking system.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue (new wheels, car throws brake code)??? Any thoughts???

to be more specific

when I start the car, I get an icon of a service lift and then the "brake" light which is normally red when the parking brake is on remains on (in amber) after the parking brake is disengaged.

I would take it to BMW to make sure they didnt bumb or trigger a sensor when they installed your wheels.

Reset the light

I get this from time to time on my car. Search "brake light" or "brake" in the DIY service forum. There is an easy rest you can do yourself. It is actually the brake pad warning on my car. It seems to accumulate miles like 3x the actual miles driven. The first time I took it in they told me the car thought it had 200K+ mileage. They did a software update but it still comes on occaisionally. Now I just reset it and forget it. This has been the only problem with my car in 14 months so I just reset it and go!

Good luck,
Bob

Thanks for the advice - we tried the most popular DIY reset sequence in my car multiple times and it doesn't work - will look for another one. As it is, looks like I'm going to have to take it to the dealership

The new wheels might just be coincidental. My car gave that code too. Was nothing wrong but the dealer had to reprogram to eliminate the error.

that's what's scary to me since my car is flashed! fortunately I recently met a very Dinan-friendly service adviser at one of our local dealerships.

The "yellow" brake light usually means one of the brake wear sensors is tripped...or loose. There is one on the drivers front and passenger rears calipers. Check to see if one got knocked off while changing wheels.
