Looking for a knowledgeable BMW Tech to diagnose my vehicle
I start up the car in shop rite parking lot, pull out of the parking lot and the car turns off.
I get a few warnings on dash and check engine. I try to start the car and it just keeps cranking, doesn't turn over. Take it to a shop and have the codes read. 2ABC Engine ECU main relay 2ACC Engine ECU main relay switching delay 2E85 Electric water pump communication 2A9A camshaft sensor 3100 charging pressure control switch off 2ABD Engine electronics, boost pressure, over run What has been done: Battery checked Vanos cleaned Camshaft sensors replaced Throttle body replaced (adapt reset) Accelerator pedal changed DME upgraded MSD80 to 81 Timing chain checked DME relay checked Fuses checked Throttle body wires checked Camshaft wires checked Charge pipe Sensir changed to 3.5 So many elelctricals checked Currently the car turns on. But idles rough. The rpm keeps jumping and it barely accelerates. Oddly enough when you cover the throttle body hole with your hand and leave a small opening, it idled smoothly. Jb4 removed. Flashed back to stock. This is a single turbo car. I am looking for someone who knows this car very well to bring their computer and diagnose it. The shop already has a higher end snap on computer which is great but limited. The car is in NYC. |

When did the car finally crank over? (After what component was replaced) What codes are currently stored in the DME? Is the 3.5 bar sensor still installed? |

You need a BMW specific scanner, either BavTech or Foxwell NT510/Schwabben. I prefer the Foxwell NT510 with BMW software because it's not VIN locked.

I'd be more than willing to take a look at it.... I just need to be informed 110% of what was done and why it was done. It seems like a ton was replaced just to get to the bottom of the problem, which makes it difficult for me to get to the root cause of the problem.

The mechanic said a couple of the codes are new, but the main ones are the throttle and camshaft. The car is a top mount single turbo. So things were changed around that needed to make this possible. Recently MSD80 to MSD81 was performed. that's pretty much it. As of right now, the mechanic is diagnosing the HPFP since it was giving good readings a few days ago and said its low today. |
