PCP Trade in question..

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere before - I've spent the last 15 minutes flicking through many PCP threads and gave up!

How exactly does the trade in at the end of PCP work?

Say the GFV is £20,000 but the P/X Value comes in at £25,000

Do you get £25,00 P/X against the next car, or just the £5,000 difference?

Cheers!

If you pcp is coming to an end let's say hall you have left it the final payment of 20k and it's worth 25k then you have 5k equity to use as deposit on you next car.
But if you changing it early let's say half way you will have to get a settlement figure from the pcp and the see how much you still have to pay . Some times you may find your self in negative equity

I'm dead.

Surely you don't honesty believe you will get £25,000 towards your next car?

I've never done this before, that's why I've posed the question.
No need to be a knob with sarcastic, unhelpful comments

Thanks for your help. That's what I thought would be the case.

Reality seems to be there will be little to no equity in a trade in scenario.

I would disagree. Wife's Aldi A1 had a GMFV of £8,800 but we were offered just over £13k as trade in, preserving the £4K deposit we started with. We were buying a new A1 so maybe that impacts trade in value, and to be fair the car was pristine when we took it back. But it's not all doom & gloom ...

I'm not a knob and I am not being sarcastic.
I'm seriously asking you if you actually thought you would get £25,000 p/x.
Anyhow you have answered my question by showing me how small your brain is.

Yes, the pre reg racket that BMW seem so hell bent on doing makes sure of that!

Well spotted. Nothing gets past you, does it? Perhaps we're on a car forum discussing cars, and an illustrative example helps give perspective.

Thank you. I do try. I've got many more from my tiny, unintelligent brain that I could impart into your large Megamind head, if you wish.

Just let me know and I'll be more than happy to share.

Each to their own but following one A1 with another sounds pretty gloomy to me (and yes I am speaking from experience as my other half has one!).

Unless you never drive it,surely you need an S1,which,from what I've read, seem to be one of the better Audis?

Each to their own indeed, but Mrs BT loves her A1 (S-Line 150PS) and frankly the choices for a small premium motor are shockingly sparse. She hates Merc, the 1-series is fugly so that leaves Mini or Audi. At the end of the day it came down to the financials, and Mini weren't prepared to offer much of a discount and gave a poorer trade in value. Audi on the other hand were prepared to negotiate, and very nearly matched C2C's discounted price.

Mrs Dobbo loves her 1. It's the LCI in M sport guise and looks pretty mean to me. I agree pre-LCI looks google eye'd. Not nice.

Agree, would never have considered the pre-LCI 1'er, but love my LCI M140i, and with 20% discount, steal of the century!

Have to agree here as well

Am impressed by Mrs Kal's M140i as well.

Cracking motors.

Almost tempted.

Couldn't persuade Mrs BT that she needed 320bhp.... she just thinks the 1 is 'too big' and a bit of an ugly duckling.
