How to play mp3 in car?

I tried plugging in the zune to the usb plug but nothing happened. What do you need to do to get the zune or any other mp3 player to work?

plug it into the aux too. I know for the ipod you need to plug both the usb and the aux port in. I think the usb is to control the mp3 player, but I'm not sure if idrive can control the mp3 player. The aux is for audio.

just use any regular aux cable. I going into the headphone port of the zune and the other end into the aux in port. Then you can hook up the usb cable that you use for the computer and see if you can control your zune with the radio.

The stereo/iDrive doesn't know how to "talk" to the Zune. Basically the USB port will only be used for charging the Zune, and only the Aux port will be used for audio. I have a Zune as well, but trust me when I say that a way better deal is a USB flash drive or small hard drive. iDrive knows how to talk to these and you can select music via iDrive, display what's currently playing, pause/mute, etc. The other option is an iPod. iDrive can talk to the iPod but still only uses the Aux port for audio. Using Aux port for audio is an inferior solution since it requires the MP3 player to convert from digital to analog, then iDrive converts it back to digital, processes it, and then does a conversion back to analog. This process degrades the sound quality and is specially noticable if you have the Premium Sound option

zune

Any idea when the Zune will be supported? Somehow I don't think BMW will be signing up for SYNC anytime soon either.
