Considering e92 M3 18's

I am thinking about putting 18" e92 M3 wheels on my car. Seems a bit aggressive at first glance, but not really compared to some setups I've seen with 10-15mm spacers. I am pretty sure the offsets I have input are all correct, if not please let me know.

e92 M3 18' on Mcoupe

I am a big fan of the new M3 18's. I am pretty sure they would look good, just don't know if they would work. Here is a quick photochop.

I do think that would look hot...with 19mm extra in the front though, isn't that almost guaranteed to rub?

The car's handling is a bit tricky at the limit already. Messing with the offsets like that may worsen that problem. It will look odd with the front wheels pushed all the way out to the very edge of the fender, or beyond.

There are plenty of great wheel choices for your car, why use something that will never be right even if you can manage to squeeze it on.

I would love to see someone try this - I think it is doable but is extremely aggresive... throwing in some negative camber should help, as well as going with a 235 up front.

I get rubbing with a 8.5inch wheel with 225's and 35mm offset. This will definately cause rubbing in the front when the wheel is turned full lock. Plus I think it will stick out too far, might start to look ghetto.

I think as far as the cars handling near the limit is concerned...it's not that tricky...just keep the gas near the floor and she'll be have like you'd expect

I like the new M3 19s better...

why not some e46 18s? they look very similar and would fit perfect.

i would never run more than a 10 mm spacer IMO.

This setup would definitely not require the use of spacers - spacers would make the problem even worse.

I know that there are some reps of the M3 19's that might work...

The biggest issue of making understeer even worse would be that to even stand a chance at getting this to work you'd need 225's and would still want to have 275's in the rear. That big of a difference betweeen front and rear would make the car even more unstable at the limit.......

Yah. The rears would fit a treat, but the fronts are NOT going to work for you, sorry to say. Spacers wouldn't help, they'd only make it worse.

I'm sure if you don't mind waiting...someone will make some reps that would fit.

I never suggested putting spacer on this setup. I was merely comparing a 15mm spacer setup up front to the built +19mm offset these rims would have on our cars. And I have been reassured the 19 reps work fine on our cars. I just happen to prefer the look of the 18's.

I never suggested that you suggested putting spacers on this setup. The post directly above mine a few posts up stated that they'd never use more than a 10mm spacer - even still I wasn't posting directly in response to that. I've seen numerous posts throughout the wheel and tire forums that lead me to believe that some people think spacers INCREASE the offset when they actually DECREASE it. I'm not posting this to you, as I'm certain you understand this; however, I think some people can benefit from this info.

OEM E90/92 18" tires would DECREASE understeer of M Coupe. 245/265 PS2 would be much better match than 225/255 PS. However, understeer is not entirely a bad thing. You want it just a tad bit...because it is easier to correct than oversteer.

Keep us post on what wheel you end up getting...

I'm not sure what the difference is for the overall diameter for what you are consdidering, but based on your posted offsets you are moving the outer edge of the tire on both the front and rears less than one inch.

I put E92 18" rims/tires on my Z4 and moved both tires out by one inch with no problems with rubbing. Now, I know there are differences between ///M and non ///M cars but it seems like you should have no problem with the fit. As others have mentioned you may alter the handling characteristics, but after I changed mine the car drove BETTER and tire wear after 5000 miles appears normal.

Good luck, I think it will look great.

Yes I remember your thread. That setup looks so much better now, while retaing the "stock" look.
