Track day pads

Looking for a set of pads for my first track day in this car. What pads are people using?
Thanks

+1 for stock pads. Learn technique and when you can out drive your car, then look into upgrades

Cool Carbon work well, as do Hawk pads. Depending on what track, even as a Novice, you can work your OEM brakes pretty hard. A brake fluid change if it has not been done recently is a must. Fluid will let you down before pads will on track.

Negative. I'm not going out there and kill myself with brakes that wont hold up. I can make them fade on back roads with this heavy pig. I am sure as hell not taking stock brakes to the track.
Also, please dont assume that I have no prior track experience.

I'm leaning towards PFC 01 or Pagid RS19 yellow. I'm not sure that either is enough brake pad for such a heavy car.

The RS19's are a good choice, I have used them on the Porsche for a lot of years. I tried the RS29's when they came out, and then gave them a second chance a couple years later, but the release characteristics are not as good as the 19's in the same temp range so I've stayed there. On the BMW which is MUCH heavier, that's even more important.

The only way you're really going to know is to paint the rotors and monitor temps. If you don't get enough heat into the system the 19's will chew through rotors fast (as will any improperly spec'd pad running under temp).

The RSL19's have a better range but they are hard on rotors if you don't get heat into them before you pound them. If I was doing basic HPD track sessions I would go this route as they are predictable across the entire heat range from 100° to well past the boiling point of your fluid. Just be gentle with the pedal force till you get some heat into the rotors.

RS42's would be the go to choice if you find yourself out on a cold day, but they won't have the heat tolerance of the 19's, so once it's even warm out, get them swapped out. They are my go to rain pad.

Benefit of the Pagid's is that I've seen no compatibility issues when swapping back to Centric Posi-Quiet 104's or 105's after the track session. With Brembo, Hawk & EBC I found transfer layer compatibility issues when swapping from race to street pads.

Make sure you have a rotor hone just in case if you develop judder from the old pads. You never know.

I also like the feel of the Pagids better than most other pads on track.

Torque brake fluid has served me well in street and race applications for a few years now as well.

Take a look at Carbotech XP 10 series pads. I use them at my first HPDE event in my XI and they did very well is long as you have good fluid in there. (I used Castrol SRF fluid as well) they screech they're noisy there's a lot of dust involved (about twice as much as stock but far less than my friends 335I running Hawk pads. I've been driving on the street for 1 month now in preparation for my next HPDE event. I would've taken them off but I should the dust and noise isn't bad it's enough to live with on the street for short period of time. They do make a scraping noise if they're very cold when coming to a dead stop so I tend to stop a little firmer stay off the brakes but it's not that bad . They are very similar to the Pagid RS 19 pad there in endurance trackpad what's good where. However I could not find RS 19 rear pads and the Carbotech are cheaper anyway got them from Bimmerworld

I posted a little review on the pad/rotor combo I added last year. Haven't tested on the track, so it may not be very relevant for you, but fwiw they feel great on spirited runs.
