Trunk Area Rattle

Hello everyone...

So my 2015 335 M Sport's ass rattles more than Kim K twerking.

I've started putting sound matting back in the trunk area, but still have a good bit of rattle. Even the gas door rattles it's ass off. Think the material by the window where the speakers mount rattle as well.

What have you guys done to help with this? I'm not running much back there. 1 Soundqubed HDC12. And it's turned down low.

Thanks for any tips.

You will end up needing to hunt down each rattle and hit them one by one. The gas cap rattle with a trunk sub has been an issue since the e90's (or earlier). I killed mine by putting a bit of weatherstrip foam on the raised area by the gas cap latch. It takes a little more effort to close the gas cap, but it kills the rattle.

The center brake light housing has rattled on both of my F30's. A little soft foam along the outer edge kills that rattle.

Find a rattle, kill it. Repeat until you find them all. It may be easier to find them if you have a friend listen for them with you since it's easy for one person to be mistaken about where a rattle is coming from.

That's some good tips right there. Appreciate that. Much thanks.

Yep, started doing that. Seems like the gas cap side rattles much more than any other par of the car.

Hmmm, gas cap is tough, as if gas gets on it. Hmmm.... Maybe take it apart and fill the air gap with silicone sealant???

Are you under warranty? Could be something isn't tightened down quite right or there's some sound deadening material that got left out during manufacturing. Maybe you can get a new gas cap.

Actually it's the gas door, not the cap itself.

Just curious what everyone else has done with this particular model.

With your trunk open try bumping the top of your rear bumper next to your tail lights. When I close my trunk I get a rattle and it sounds like it's coming from that area. I'm still trying to figure out how to eradicate it.
