What exhaust do you have and which shops to use

Hello,

I've been contemplating an exhaust for awhile now. As the weather is slowly getting warmer, my desire has to get an exhaust increases.

What exhaust do you have or what do you recommend? I've heard a single midpipe really changes the tone for the F8X, wondering what your experience is with those?

I've been looking at the AWE or FI, but they are darn expensive.

Also, any shops you recommend to get the exhaust done or talk to?

I've been running an AWE Non-resonated for the last couple years and LOVE it. It's night and day different relative to stock. I'm happy to try to get together at one of the cars and coffee or something if you want to have a listen first hand.

I had SpeedLife Motorsport in Haverhill do the install and they did a great, competitively priced job. I either use SpeedLife or Turner for any non-warranty covered services. Both are awesome in my experience.

I still have the stock exhaust that is included with the Competition Pkg. So I cannot offer experience for choosing one aftermarket model vs. another. Depending on where you live, consider Turner Motorsport (Amesbury, MA). I used them for work done on my previous M3.

I got the M-Performance exhaust. I purchased it from Turner Motorsports, and they also installed it.

for a cheap easy solution to the crazy priced $4k+ systems out there.. do TMS test pipe and unplug the flaps.. cost $600 and sounds like a 4k system. best bang for the buck if you want a stock looking car with a nice extra bit of sound..

i did that and drop in filters (+tune) and the car really sound nice and has a great tone with NO done. 2000rpm to 5500 rpm has a nice exotic tone and over 6k sounds very similar to stock just louder by maybe 15-20% also ive been told that getting rid of the secondary cats frees up as much flow as doing a rear muffler, if not more.. so its a win win..

I bought an MPE from a forum member for $3500 w/ carbon tips in great shape, had BMW of Sudbury install it. Paid 2.5 hours labor which seemed high but I also had to have my VSC-2 valve controller taken off and put back on.

AWE NonResonated installed at PitStopMotorTuning. I used to have Akrapovic Evo but I prefer the AWE

I have Fabspeed exhaust. I had Kaizen Tuning sell and install it for me. They sold me my Advan's too. Super clean high end shop. Not BMW specific shop and they readily admit that.

Dinan rear paired with x-pipe. Did it with help from a friend at the house. No need to pay a shop money to do it

Even easier when there's no cutting involved

We had to cut by DPs and that required some wrangling around but nothing one can't do.

if you just want to wake the sound up some and have it sound great do this deactivate exhaust flaps and remove resonator from stock exhaust with straight pipes! It will sound great. Nice mean growl. I was going to get an aftermarket exhaust and tried that option and loved it so stuck with it. Everywhere I go I get asked what aftermarket exhaust I went with and I say modified stock! Enjoy! Total cost roughly $250-350 depending where you go for exhaust work!

Anyone with exhaust mods interested in getting together to share info and sound? I live on the south shore and looking through options there are so many. Hard to really tell in videos. Fabspeed looks good but not sure if I want full or just cat-back. I have a 2016 F80 non-zcp. No mods. I don't want to go the tune route yet so looking for good mod that will sound great and work for maybe some tuning in the future. I like the thought of the inexpensive resonator removal or straight pipe mods someone mentioned but curious to hear the sound? Would also just be good to meet some fellow enthusiasts in the area. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
