Factory roof bars + roof box (460)

Hi All,

I have a 2017 220i Gran Tourer (F46) with the factory roof rails.

I have purchased the BMW roof bars and factory roof box (460).

Here's my question:

The box came installed at delivery. However, the roof rail's rubber strips (that get pushed into the top of the roof bars) were not installed.

I cannot find any instructions that indicate whether or not the rubber inserts should be installed when the roof box is on.

If they should be installed, I suspect that I will need to cut the stripes into three (one large piece in the middle, then two smaller stripes on either side of the mounting bolts?

Any tips?

Thanks!

I think you answered your own question ;-). I will get my GT in 3 weeks and have also ordered the roof bars. I already have the 460 roof box and think this is exactly how I would mount it.

Everyone has suggested to NOT place the rubber under the box (only on either side of the box, to help prevent wind noise.

I wont have the box back on the car until the summer. So, to be continued...

Other quick question: do you know if the total height of the car (so including the 460 box) stays below the 2 meters? Would like to be able to pass the Telepeage toll booths in France in the summer
