Does the MPPSK increase the boost?

Does anyone know how the power kit works? Is it just a code that tells the computer to increase the boost similar to how the Dinantuner sport or JB+ works?

Thanks

Yes, it is a boost. The big thing is the overrun condition causing the burbles and pops in the exhaust.

Thanks. Do you know how many psi the kit increases the boost by?

I just installed the Dinantronic Sport, and am running Sport+, which increases boost by 3psi. There is also race mode which increases it by 4 psi. I'd like to run it in race mode all the time, but don't want to screw up the turbo. I'm trying to see if the MPPK increases boost by a similar amount to put me at ease.

Thanks again.

What do you think about the Dinantronic Sport? Can you give a quick review? Noticeable upgrade in power?

I just installed it yesterday. The install took 15 minutes. I spent more time cleaning the engine bay than installing it.

I have only driven it around the block a few times since the install, but I can notice the increase in power. It is nothing crazy but definitely going to be more fun driving around town. This is exactly what I was looking for since I wanted something that would be an easy install and removal for service, not too expensive, and would not stress the internals much.

I don't redline my car much, so was looking for more at the low end, which the Dinan sport tuner does a good job of. They claim that it increases torque by 40-50 lb/ft, which I think is valid especially at the low end <4k rpm.

I will get more time with it next Saturday when I'm driving up north and will do a follow up review then. I am installing my MPE today, so this will also bias my next review unfortunately.

I can't compare this to the JB4 or JB+, which might be better, but overall I am happy.

Thanks for the quick summary. I look forward to a future, in depth review.

I also have MPE but do NOT have MPPK or any other chip device.

I believe the BMW MPPK is 2 PSI, gives a 35 HP increase to 355 HP and 369 # torque.

I do not know much about the Dinan plug in chip, but I see it is a claimed 412 HP and 438 torque available from the 3.0 liter engine... simply amazing!

Sorry, that's incorrect. The "Dinan plug in chip" is only 30 HP max power increase (for the Dinantronics Sport), which is a boost-only add-on. Dinan's other piggyback tunes have more sensors and can alter ignition and cam timing and fuel mapping, and are available in stages 1, 2, 3, and 4 (which includes a bigger turbo). The Dinan S3 flash tune for the N54 engine produced 410 HP when coupled with their intake, exhaust, intercooler, and oil cooler. I had this tune with the aforementioned equipment on my previous 2007 E92 335i and it was pretty amazing, considering that having it did not affect my OEM warranty and kept boost to a maximum of 15.5 PSI. The Dinan S1-S3 tunes for the N55 produce slightly less peak HP/TQ than the comparable ones for the N54.

i have a 435i n55 with mppk and mpe, i have the jb + which is basically the dinan sport. For a normal n55 without mppk/mpe, the max setting on jb+/dinan sport is 4psi. So from my research since MPPK adds 2psi of boost, then its probably safest to only do an extra 2psi with dinan sport/jb+. This would make a mppk car with jb+/dinan almost equilivent to a regular n55 with the highest setting on jb+/dinan sport. So our cars with mppk would be pushing 4 psi then, compared to a regular n55 on the highest setting would also be pushing 4psi.

but let me know what you’ve been running for the past couple days and how much octane, me personally I wouldn’t go over 4psi in total.

Just curious, what made you opt for the JB+ over the Dinan Sport?

does dinan sport need to be removed during service? its dinan... it doesnt have the warranty coverage that the more expensive dinan stuff has, but do you need to remove it? or more for precaution, since it doesnt have the warranty?

I actually didn't know that the dinan was out because whenever I went on the website I would always see the expensive options. The jb+ and dinan are exactly the same while the jb+ you can't change on the fly but it is also 100$ cheaper. If I were to purchased again I would purchase the dinan Sport as I would like to change on the fly so I could see how much boost works best for my car kinda thing rather then using a screwdriver, but if you don't see your self changing the boost all the time then jb+ is better since it's cheaper also.. also terry at Berger tuning is awesome. He answers all the questions personally and is always helpful. I've asked him some stupid question but he also replies nice and professionally. I feel like if I spoke to dinan Sport customer service they wouldn't know as much as Berger tuning since dinan is a large company and probably has people reading off a manual for tech support. So jb+ is very recommended by me

Dinan sport does not match factory warranty.. the DME8 Dinantronics Elite does and it comes with a myriad of additional sensors.
I'd remove it

Given it takes 5 minutes to remove, it is cheap insurance against any potential problems if the dealer finds it.
