Hawk pads for the track?
Does any one have any experience with DTC-70 or DTC-60 brake pads on track? I am considering their use for track days, HPDE and maybe autocross, running in the intermediate class on track. I have had some people suggest 70's in front and 60's in back? Any actual use info would be appreciated. I'm thinking for autocross they would not really get up to temp to work well?

I've been using 70s for many track seasons on my E36, and just ordered some for the M2. I've also used 60s, but have no reason to use them on either axle other than saving a few bucks. I was considering trying the PFC01s for reputation for super long life, but despite being claimed as available, haven't found anyone with physical units in stock.
Experience on the E36 is that DTC 70s have good torque, and nice modulation characteristics. I'm a left foot/trail braking type, and these work really well for that. The backs last forever and the fronts last as well as anything else, although my E36 has good ductwork for cooling - M2 is stock. First time for the M2 with DTC 70s will be end of the month at VIR, so we'll see. I can offer no insight to how well they are for autocross use |

You will want a pad that can warm up quickly and a short autocross course will not likely get the pads to operating temps.
Some users like to use DTC60 rear with DTC70 front so they can trail brake a bit easier. http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1358866 |

Just put a set of DTC-60 in my M2 tonight, will test them in a few weeks and do a write up. I've run the 70's and 60's in my 997 GT3 on NT01's and Pirelli DH slicks and they are awesome. Tons of bite but not too grabby on initial brake application. Never had any fading issues even using them in my porky 2010 GT-R at COTA either. I leave them in my GT3 all the time, they last about 10-12 track days. They are my go to pad of choice.
In my experience 60's can hold up to Hoosiers just fine, 70's are better for full non DOT slicks which not many people run. Last edited by CosmosMpower; 04-03-2017 at 10:39 PM.. |
