For those that DD their f8x. Question

Hey guys. Recently just picked up an f80 an I'm moving to Portland in 10 days. I'm curious for those of you who DD your car. What tires are you running? Do you have the pilots for summer and change tires for winter? Or do you have some good all seasons? I'm not sure what to expect weather wise and need to buy tires asap.

Get good summer tires here in the Northwest. I have the OEM Pilot Super Sport. will be replacing the rears with Pilot Sport 4 s when it is out. Summer tires have the best traction in the rain, which we get a lot over here. They don't do as well in the winter when the road is cold. As long as you don't do crazy shit, you will be fine throughout the winter with summer tires around here.

I'm running a set of the 19" 437M's with the Michelin AS3+ for winter duty, and will put back on 20s with PSS for rest of the year. I've actually been fairly impressed with the AS3's.

I have the luxury of running MPSSs on spring-fall rims and have dedicated winters with Falken ZE950 A/S tires. Over the recent inclement weather Seattle had, the ZE950s did an outstanding job of getting me everywhere safely. I heard Portland folks had it rougher though.

I picked up my F80 in December and the sales guy swears up and down my MPSS would be fine all year.

This past Monday I didn't drive it and took a Lyft instead, was really glad I did. But Tuesday, etc this week w/ the residual frozen crap on the ground I still drove it to work. No problem.

OEM MPSS April to October. Late fall and winter I run a winter set which is Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s on Rial 18 X 8 wheels. I live in a hilly area, and I find the OEM tires to be sketchy on wet roads when temps drop below 50 degrees.

With all the snow this week, I was extremely pleased with the performance of the winter tires. No way would I have driven the MPSS tires in that mess!

Agreed, I need winters in the Vancouver area, esp. this year! Summer's are too risky on the hills around here. Summer, mpss and Kuhmo's for winter..

I run the stock Contis year round. Last winter was no problem at all. This winter ive had a few hairy moments with the insane amounts of snow/ice we've had.

The worse thing about driving a nice car here is the gravel that is used on the roads in the winter. You will get plenty of rock chips. Other than that you'll be fine.

I've been running Blizzak LM32 performance winters for a few months and was glad I had them for the snow that hit the Seattle area last week. My M3 is my only car so it's important for me to still be able to get around. It probably would have been tough for me to even get out of the driveway with the stock summers.

The stock tires also lose traction easily on cold and wet roads, so it's good to have an alternate set for the cold months even if it doesn't snow.
