Doubtful, if ever. And even if it does, it'll probably be too expensive to be worth it for us unless you were going big turbo and well over 500hp. Because it's located within the intake manifold, and is water:air instead of a traditional air:air, it will not be at all easy or cheap for manufacturers to fabricate one.

No real reason to unless it deems itself not able to adequately cool at higher power levels. Does anyone know if it's plumbed in with the radiator antifreeze or is it a it's own system?
It would be cool to see a bigger reservoir released if it's it's own system so you could put ice and stuff down in it. |

Yeah exactly why we will probably never see it. I think manufacturers will start trying to integrate something into the charge pipe between the turbo and throttle body before attempting to fabricate a new manifold with a more efficient water:air intercooler. Or even adding a traditional intercooler like we all are used to. Even then though, still doubtful in my opinion we ever see any kind of aftermarket intercooler for the B58.

That's too bad that it'll be too expensive to release something. Was looking to doing the pure turbo with a new intercooler, but i guess that'll just save me some money now.

I know couple companies looking into an upgraded intercooler option, they are still checking cost/demand and whether it is worth it or not

That would be interesting to see. It would definitely be a much more expensive ordeal and likely incorporate an entire package. Someone needs to come up with the 'standard' for where the plumbing should go.

IMO because of the location of the IC it's not as good or efficient in our application. Even if you cool below ambient, the warmer IC will transfer some heat in the wrong direction and warm it back up. You'd have to install the meth after the intercooler, which will net little to no temp reduction since it's right by the combustion chamber. |
