VDC on G30
Do you reckon that VDC is as essential as the reviewers make out if you're getting a car with 17'' wheels and non-runflats?
The testers all advise getting it but then the cars they have been testing all had 19'' or 20'' wheels with runflat tyres. |

There is only one way to be sure and that is a test drive on your specific types of roads.
Most of these "tester" also "advise" VDC while they only had 1 car to test. So how would they know the difference? And as you say, difference would be bigger on the large wheels.

I think standard suspension and 17" will be more than comfortable enough.

My experience with the F10/11, VDC makes a good car better. If comfort and ride quality are high priorities, then VDC makes so much sense. Widens the suspension working envelope. Less compromise over a wide range of use.

Does VDC come with Adaptive drive option.
Most reviews from the uk for the F10 highly recommend VDC or DDC. So does What Car in its recent review of the G30. In Malaysia, we don't really have a choice as it depends on what BMW Malaysia decides to bring in. We only sell about 10000 bmws a year so not really a big market. Nevertheless, VDC would be an important consideration for me, as we have some not so good roads in some places. What I've read so far seems to suggest that if the car has the adaptive suspension button, it should have VadC. Thanks. |

Thanks Remmib.
The price difference in Malaysia between the 530i & the 540i is bound to be considerable. For example the retail price difference between the 730i & 740i is almost RM200k or USD45k. Prices of cars in Malaysia is crazy due mainly to tax and partly higher margins, probably. Anyway, I'm sure I can't stretch to buy the 540i. Even the 530i may be priced somewhere near USD90k at current exchange rates. We pay so much but hardly have any choice when it comes to options. The price caused me to drive second hand bimmers for the past 15 years. I finally decided to get a brand new one, at least once in my life. However, no adaptive suspension may very well be a deal breaker for me. |
