I had the bolts come out. They replaced the LSD and I haven't had a problem since. I didn't hear about any recall until I saw this post

I'm having issues. They are now telling me that their process is to pull the diff, send it to them, wait for inspection, they will ship me another. I don't have $600 for another install + 2 weeks for a rental car. Are they crazy?

Is this affecting all of their units? I just got their bolt in LSD installed in my E90.

MFactory should cover all uninstall/install costs for this, since the only way they'll honor their warranty is if a shop did the install.
What are the symptoms of the bolt backing out? |

It's an LSD versus being an open diff. Not sure what you're getting at.

If your diff build falls into the time frame of the recall, they do cover the labor. Once they had the diff, they had it back to me within 2 days. I am fortunate to be kind of local ~90 min to their San Dimas location. So I just dropped off and picked up the diff myself, it was a very smooth process. They replaced it without question and that was way before the recall. At first they did not pay my labor. That's not standard in their warranty, it was only after seeing this post that I contacted mfactory and they get the bolt manufacturer to pay my labor. I only paid 450 to r&r and I was only laid up a couple days. What problems are you having? I basically had no problems until one of the bolts exploded through the cover on a mountain sprint. The only prior clue there was a problem was an occasion whirring sound coming from the diff at different conditions. But no change in its behavior. No, only those produced between certain dates. Wouldn't be on a new unit. It was traced back the bolt manufacturer. |

Found the dates. Beginning of 2015 production dates, so I'm good.

Yup. Here was my MFactory LSD failure...
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...6&postcount=64 MFactory covered the cost of a new rebuilt pumpkin, but I was on the hook for labor to uninstall and reinstall the new unit. It was a bit of a bummer given that it was clearly a manufacturer defect (they don't deny that). |

^ I get that they won't/can't afford to pay for everyone's uninstall/reinstall, but at least a partial refund or credit towards a future purchase would be nice given the circumstance.

You guys who can deal direct with MFactory USA and do quick exchanges should consider yourselves very, very lucky. I'm 4.5 months and about $1200 in to my MFactory bolt failure debacle and I haven't even got the bill from my diff builder yet. It's a looooong story which I'll share down the track when it's all behind me. In summary, my diff builder has confirmed and agrees with everything I already knew about the cause. I've been fed plenty of lies (for example, apparently carrier bearings are sealed on the inside and the metal-ridden oil and long coily bits of metal my diff was riddled with could not have had an effect on the carrier bearings or caused one to spin). It just brings up way too much bad stuff for me going into it at the moment but I'll get all of the relevant info together soon. I've been very unlucky because I had bad experiences with 3 completely different parties for 3 completely different and unrelated reasons before I finally just took the repaired LSD centre and bought the bearings from elsewhere myself and took the lot to a diff builder myself.
