Gas additive

I considered using the chevron or stp gas additive for injector/valve cleaning. BMW says no and others say sure. Thoughts? 108,000 miles.

It will NOT clean valves. The injection is directly into the combustion chamber. No fuel ever sees the back of the valves.

Go and get your car walnut blasted.

you can consider using this stuff to clean out your injectors/fuel system, but thats about it.

When I actually remember to, I add just one ounce of this stuff to a full tank of fuel:

I always end up getting 1-1.5 mpg increase. If you read the first review in the link, it's spot on.

The fuel additive might help clean the fuel injectors but as mentioned above, fuel does not spray over the backside of the valves and therefore, will not clean them.

no performance gains

engine doesn't run better because it's already running as it should to begin with *proper maintenance is key here*

started using additive around ~60k mile mark i guess. Currently have ~90k on odo

Just so you know the chevron additive is the exact same as the BMW additive they just put a different label on it. not sure if it helps much but it surely cant hurt. Nothing like good-ole walnuts though.
