Talking Performance between Cobb and MHD

I like the Cobb b\c I live in California and I can retune it to stock for smog testing every 2 years. What are the performance differences between a Cobb and the MHD for a stock vehicle? Can I retune the MHD to stock for smog purposes. Thanks in advance for any help.

Both just flash the car.

MHD have better/more updates & features.

Price is no longer an argument- used Cobb is dirt cheap

Either way get a custom tune, in that scenario either is only as good as who is behind the laptop

If you plan on using a custom pro tuner map then they'll be close in power..

For OTS, MHD should make more power..

Convenience and ease of use goes to Cobb..

Yeap went to zero map on MHD, took a min to change then passed my smog.

So is there an advantage to one or the other if getting a custom tune on an fbo car? If so, I'd love to hear why pro tuners prefer one over the other. For example are there limitations with cobb now vs mhd?

Probably other way around. Cobb is outdated and has to use outdated tuning techniques. OTS maps are all the same and all make about the same amount of power. Its custom tunes where you really see the biggest benefits to MHD over cobb

Cobb hasnt been updated in several years now, and there have been tons of new tables discovered and advancements made in flash tuning since then. MHD > COBB in terms of features and custom tuning.

If I could sell my Cobb for the price of custom MHD and tablet, I'd go down that road.... it just seems from the reading I've done that MHD will allow more customization for your tune on your car to your tastes than would Cobb.

That said, my Cobb is set-up with custom tunes that suit my car and tastes pretty well..

Either way you go, plan on a custom tune, the differences in power may be somewhat minimal, but dialing in exactly what you want is priceless..

Both work well, but the Cobb platform is dead. No further development, while the MHD platform has continued and very active development and table discovery with new features coming out all the time. There is no way I would go with Cobb at this point.

There is no more further BMW development with COBB but will still do the job

MHD is more advanced and continues in development

This does mean that a MHD custom tuned car will be faster than a COBB ProTuned car in terms of a car on stock turbos. This is solely in hands and ability of the tuner.

+1 on custom tune. Increased 30HP(I have before and after dynojet numbers) just by switching from an MHD OTS tune to a custom tune.
