HK audio f*cking up already

Well. My audio is dead in my car after getting tint(non metallic) and occasionally belches out a loud nails on the chalkboard sound on startup and bounces around through all audio zones (front back sides) . Any quick suggestions or anyone that experienced this before I have to take my car 50 fucking miles to Richmond VA while being audibly tortured?

This sucks wtf

To clarify it sounds like the amplifier is going nuts and is causing the speakers to spazz out even when the audio volume is all the way down. I'm very disappointed

No idea, but I hope the dealer sorts it out for you. It does suck, hopefully it's just a amp replacement and you are back to enjoying the good sounds.

Let us know what the problem was.

There is another post on here that someone had to get amp replaced. On mobile or I'd search it up for you.

Hopes it's nothing crazy.. total bummer it happens on new car but there is bad technology hardware out there it can happen to anyone of us.

A few days ago, my car no longer had bass for about a day. next day it started playing normally again, but it sucked for an hour and I was sure I'd have to take it in.

That does not sound good. I hope they can get it sorted out with certainty and not make your car the test bed for clueless techs fixing a stereo.

I posted a similar issue a couple weeks ago.

My speakers made a popping/cracking sound for a day and then it went silent.

It took BMW 2 weeks to get a new amp from Germany.

I'd rather get kicked in the nuts really hard than to hear that shit again, it was the definition of torture

In '97 when I got my first M3, I had a friend who also got one a few months later. His radio quit because he unplugged the battery and did not have the code to enable it. He was happy to just listen to the engine note! He did not get it recoded for a month or more LOL.

Lmao I'm in the same boat, as you can tell my mood is night and day from the first couple of posts. As soon as it stopped I see it as a minor setback, especially since you can still drive the car (I.E. differential recall taking summer drive time away from the 16'rs had to be much worse to deal with)

Perspective!

Isn't it possible just to pull the fuse on the M2 sound system? -scr

How does the car sound without the artificial exhaust noise? Better worse or no change?

Perhaps? I honestly have no idea where they are located , could it have dripped from the window into the door and ruined it in this fashion?

Edit- I had eliminated the idea of this once I seen a few others have the same issues. Before I made this thread I had sworn I seen it posted a couple of times but I was frustrated and on mobile so I took the easy route

I'm gonna take a stab at explaining; the sound is the same it just has less definition . Seems like the piped in sounds just add detail to what's already there . You can still hear the gurgles and fun sounds but it's just less dramatic -- this is with closed cabin, I didn't wind my windows down since this mishap happened

Audio is back, but it screeched on me and it was embarrassing - so it's not 100% but it's not 0% anymore. Will follow up with diagnosis tomorrow

Edit- took a drive and it went back to shit. It's absurdly loud you can hear the static from about 25 feet away from the car with doors and windows shut.

Just a wild guess here, maybe if some fluid did get down into the inner door area and dripped on a speaker connection causing this problem, if its getting slightly better, maybe its drying out.

I would think if an amp goes, it does not show improvement, but I cant say for certain. Another guess.

I thankfully had a completely silent 1.5 hour drive on the way to the service center . So I guess technically it didn't improve. It tried then died. No word on the diagnosis until tomorrow AM

Do you mean without the ASD on. So ASD off?

I found my HK system performing very very badly(understatement) for such a brand/car/price. But with ASD off(months ago) the clarity of sounds is back. It's isn't a top system(not even close) but it got WAY better after putting ASD off imho.

Cheers

Congrats, let us know later your opinion on w/ and w/o ASD.

Ended up being a bad amp, and I'm in the same boat as the person above, where it will take 2-4 weeks to ship from Germany. In the mean time, I asked that they just unplug the bad one and I'll just enjoy the car without sound in the mean time. Not too bad of a scenario overall.

The ASD def adds more clarity to the gurgles and pops from the exhaust , but I think it just adds to the thrill of the drive . None of the piped in sound aren't anything that you couldn't hear with the windows down. The cabin is actually a lot more quiet than you would imagine in my opinion
