Coding Bang & Olufsen

I didn't get a definitive answer on the M2 forums, so thought I would post here to a much larger audience

I have a 2017 F87 with HK sound. As you guys know our HK doesn't come with the L7 surround or the EQ like on some cars

So I coded the B&O option using this -

HU_NBT2
3000 -> HIGH_END_AUDIO_MENUE
set to: volle_insz

but I am not hearing a difference in my car. Yes, it shows in iDrive, but it takes ~20 seconds to change from Studio to Expanded and vice-versa. I have a feeling that because our cars didn't come with the L7 Surround setting, we may not have the DSP for this?

Anybody else coded this and have any feedback?

Just because you code something and it shows up in NBT doesn't mean you have the hardware to do it.. Yes it will code, no it will not work

Yes, I know the codeability of something doesn't necessarily mean it will work

I was really just looking for confirmation that we don't have the right hardware to support the feature. I guess our HK hardware is different than the F30 HK hardware... Thanks!

I know HK is different than B&O

From reading it had seemed that HK w/ the L7 surround feature was able to code and use the B&O feature successfully. I just wasn't sure if the L7 surround was required for this coding to be successful.

Learned about this coding here - http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1322442

I used to have an F80 so I still hang out there occasionally

In the cars with L7 or B&O the DSP happens on the amp not the headunit. As such, the headunit only sends the settings to the amp over the optical cable. Since the HK in the F2X platform is fully analog, turning on any L7 or B&O DSP codings will have no effect.

Thank you Gabrola! This is exactly the information I had been looking for Now I know why there was no difference in sound between Studio and Expanded. I will be reverting this coding back!
