How do you remove dealer logos?
just took delivery and found this....
it isn't like a sticker where it just peels off. it feels metallic almost. tried a heat gun and my fingernails and it didn't work. it is raised off the paint, not under the clear coat. should i take it to a body shop or an auto detailer? Help Last edited by AndrewC1989; 12-07-2016 at 10:12 PM.. |

I bought it from a dealer in Florida because there was an allocation there for me. They shipped it to another dealer in NJ because that's where i live. That NJ dealer put this shit on it. So it's not any fault of the people i actually purchased it from therefore i didn't feel the need to throw a fit or get angry and just decided to be cordial and deal with the issue myself since i wanted the car home and didn't want to end up standing at a dealership all night arguing over a sticker. Any ideas or recommendations are welcomed.

Pretty cheesy for a dealer to put that on a car they didn't even sell. They ought to pay you for the advertising. I'd take it back and insist they take it off. Surely you won't be the first to make that request.

I'll see what a body shop says tmrw and report back. If it's inexpensive then i'll just pay for it. i'd rather not sour the experience of buying my first brand new car by getting confrontational.

I had a dealer vinyl sticker on the back window of my car when I took delivery. First thing I did when we walked out to inspect the car with the sales guy was to peel it off, screw it in a ball and hand it to him. "You can keep that" I said.
He just chuckled and gave me a knowing look. Not his fault I suppose. |

Final update:
Took it to a body shop to remove. Took 15 min of heat gunning. No charge. The owner even commented on how difficult it was in comparison to normal dealer badges. His exact words: "What the fuck?" Glad this didn't turn into an ordeal. My advice is: try to avoid these but if you can't, it's not the end of the world. Glad it's off the car. |

When I ordered mine, I specified no dealer stickers. I said it was OK for them to add a license plate frame with their name on it (they didn't) which I would have replaced anyway with the M2 frame I purchased off Amazon/eBay. I also specified don't drill holes in the front and install a dealer nameplate (Pennsylvania doesn't use front license plates).
Although my CQuartz Finest paint protection comes with a 'Do not wash' placard, you might want to print the following to keep in your glove compartment when you go for service. I hang several of them (mirror and radio nob) and have them add 'Do not wash' to the work order. You can probably buy them somewhere or search Google Images for other ones. |

Good ol' Prestige. I was never a fan of them after trying to purchase a car there years ago. Though there was some positive feedback in the Pricing forum from a few forum members who purchased their M2 there.
Likely just a tech following the typical Pre-delivery checklist. I would still send a note to the general manager informing him they should ask the purchaser in the future before adding those things to the car. May help someone else down the road. |

This was unlike any dealer badge I've ever seen. So thin and close to the paint and metallic in structure. Literally the work of the devil.

Heat and dental floss to get beneath the letters, gently saw back and forth to remove. Clean up any residue.
