Adblue necessary or optional?

Have any diesel owners looked into coding out the Adblue sensors/is that a tuner type arrangement? Or is this something we want for car longevity? From what I can tell it is just for emissions and not fuel efficiency etc.

There's been quite a bit of discussion for this. You should Search for them, both here and in the e90post diesel subforum.

Short story is that you can't code it out; you need a bench tune. Which means that no dealer or reputable independent will touch the car again. So how are you going to maintain it?
