yea, you could but why would you need to refill? If your levels are dropping, get it checked out asap!!! Some guy in the 235 forums drove on a tuned n55 that required coolant refills. Turned out his head was cracked and he needed a new motor.

I normally do minor refills between services, like 10ml each month or so...

You should be able to go the entire 100,000 mile interval without having to add. If you do need to add make sure you dilute the coolant, its not designed to go in the system at its full concentration.

It's very common to lose a little water from the coolant over time due to evaporation. Yes, the system is technically sealed, but some water can be lost through reservoir cap. The coolant isn't disappearing, but rather it's water base. Every car I've owned has required around 150-200ml of top off every year. I've never owned a car that had headgasket issues of coolant leaks.

I did notice that my M235's coolant reservoir was slightly below the cold level when I got the car (new). I added 150ml of distilled water to bring it up to the cold level on a cold engine. Even under hard driving, the coolant level on the reservoir has never gotten more than midway between the cold and hot marks.

Yes. That's why i bought the BMW Coolant. Because of my OCD, i can't live with that reservoir with the coolant under de max line.

When i received the car the coolant level was also in MIN so i complete it. Why is that ?? In a new car with 5 miles when delivered ?

Keep in mind that coolant expands as it heats up. When the motor is stone cold, the coolant level should be at the minimum/low level. You don't want the coolant level at the max level when the motor is stone cold.

Why not just have the dealer top it off every time you take it in? If the car is legitimately losing coolant between services, they would be apt to top it off each time. Doesn't seem worth buying a gallon when the car is still within its free service period.

Plus, then you would have it on record @ the dealer that the car sips coolant in case there is ever a leak or coolant consumption issue out of warranty.
