Softest lowering springs/coilovers

I'm looking to lower my car .8-1". As this is now my daily, I'd like to retain as much of the factory ride as possible- the roads in Sydney are mediocre at best. I love the factory ride, but acknowledge that it's probably over damped and under sprung. What you, your mate or his dog run on their track cars is probably not helpful- I want to retain some comfort.

Not much is available here given the lack of good shops and taxes. The options seem to be:

KW V3
KW HAS
Eibach springs

I'm concerned that the V3s and HAS will be overly sprung and the car will be more unsettled on mid corner bumps, which leaves the Eibachs. Thoughts?

Is there another way to get the height?

I've had nothing but great results from Eibach Pro Kit springs in my previous cars so while I can't speak for their application on the M2, I wouldn't hesitate to run them myself on my M2.

Any of the H&R or Eibach lowering springs are very soft and progressive. KW V series will be the softer coilovers.

The softest products will be:

- Springs: Eibach

- Coil overs: Bilstein PSS10 or Ohlins R&T

The rear springs on the Ohlins R&T are over 1300 lbs/in. I would not call that soft. There are multiple complaints about the stiffness. Mostly on the M3/4 board.

I'm on Eibachs. I like them. Feel a bit more connected to the road through the wheel, and ride is still just fine...

Yup I'll be going with Eibachs too as it seems to be the most popular set up.

All- I went with a KW HAS kit. Spring rates are the softest I could find.

I think the M2 suspension is slightly flawed- it is oversprung and under dampened- particularly noticeable on a choppy high speed corner. Where good dampeners let the car track well, the M2 skips. Perhaps a bigger sidewall would solve it?

I managed to do a back to back with my 987 and the better dampening is immediately noticeable.

Net result- don't lower- go coilovers instead.

Sorry, so what you meant to say is that HAS kit is even softer compared with stock springs?

I can say the Ohlins will not be as soft as stock, even at the softest setting. What I can say is that the all-around ride will be much more solid. At least I can say this for my 335is. I just want back to stock shocks/springs from Ohlins. Feels like I am riding my my Ford Explorer now. Even will all of the M parts still on.

I don't think any of the kits mentioned will give you a softer ride. Don't know anything about Eibach springs, feel they would kill some handling performance.

Apparently the Dinan kit is softer than stock. Not sure about the rates but the feedback is that it does indeed ride better. My H&R springs ride like stock for the most part. It's really going to come down to dampening

I'm in the same position as the OP. Looking for a bit of a softer ride than stock. Matt Farrah's review of the Dinan M2 seemed to reinforce the Dinan suspension as being softer than stock. I'll have to do a bit more research. Anyone running the Dinan suspension on their M2?

The Dinan stuff sounds like a great option- especially if the dampening can be tuned/shimmed to ramp up at the end.

Correct. Unless softer springs are used in their place.

The joke is that the Dinan suspension is adjustable springs only! How can stiffer springs with stock shocks be more comfortable than stock?

Anyone actually have the Dinan "coilover" kit?

Seems many opinions but not enough reviews. As things stand now, it seems the M performance coilovers are stiffer than the standard suspension, even when dialed down to soft. The other options are Ohlins which can be set up with softer springs than their engineers recommend if you want a street setup, or the Dinan spring "coilover" kit which only Matt Farah has said anything about to the extent that it is a more comfortable and livable setup even with a higher spring rate.

Looking to see if someone who actually has the Dinan setup wants to chime in on the street performance, especially on broken or bumpy roads, as compared to the stock springs.

I just installed the H&R springs and I would definitely say that the ride quality is pretty comparable to OEM. The lower ride height definitely keep the car flatter around corners. I have only put about 40 miles on the car since I installed them last weekend but I am really happy with the stance and the ride. Definitely a great option.

Do you find the M-Performance coilover to be better for daily driving duties?

As you have added these to your car, do you find the ride to be better over broken or bumpy roads? Have you adjusted both rebound and compression or just rebound on your car when changing the settings? How would you compare the ride to the stock suspension, and the change of ride once the damper settings were softened for off track purposes?

Bumping an old thread but ... doesn't seem that a resolution was made.

What option would you go with for:
1)Softest ride/comfort
2)Stance (nice drop)
3)Handling

But what I'd reallywant is this:
