Saw G30 - real pics
Not bad, but no wow effect vs F10 (unlike G11 vs F01). Interior materials, buttons no better than F10, and certainly cheaper then G11. Would not upgrade if F10 is in good technical condition.

What was the spec, looks pretty plain. I think the G30 with upgraded packages most likely has the better interior and quality. Leather type, dials, ceramic?

Interior design options: 255, 4AW, 4LF, 4UR, 416, 456, 72S (luxury line, but I am not sure what it means interior-wise). Leather is Dakota. Still had higher expectations vs outgoing model

To me, if the materials are the same as the F10, then the interior and exterior redesigns are more than enough for me to upgrade. The G30 is definitely my next ride. I'm not taken at all by the current F10, and when sitting next to the G30 it seems more outdated. Of course, however, I skipped the F10 and have been waiting in an E60. To each their own!

Interior material quality does seem improved but not very significantly. It will be more noticeable in upper trims that are not equipped with the grandpa beige theme. With that being said, the interior is very "standard BMW," in that if you are used to BMWs you would feel right at home. Everything is in its usual spot, there's never any radical changes between generations like there are with every Merc.
Compared to the E-class, BMW did cheap out with its window and door switches which is very unfortunate. Mercedes put metal finish on theirs whereas BMW went with the same old. I hope this is corrected in the LCI. |

The main problem atleast to me, its the interior. Exterior of the car is great.
Yet the interior doesn`t make you look/feel special. And to be fair f10 interior was way better when its come out. Lets not forget it was before 6 years. Yet after 6 years and after they see what Merc interior offer, they come with this ? And im talking about 5 series and 7 series .... No wow factor at all and nothing really special. The trim line in the interior of the Bmw looks kinda flat now. I do think with the curved dashboard of the old 5 series looks better, esp for the time when its come out. Now its just semple, no wow factor. Not good enough for me. We are talking about high luxury car ... Bmw have some time to see Mercedes interior and come with this ? Again exterior wise both 5 and 7 looking great, interior wise i`m disappointed big time. BTW, atleast this steering wheel looks luxury and i like it a lot. Sorry, but not even close: http://indianautosblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/2016-Mercedes-E-Class-E-350-e-interior-dashboard.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GcHhqUiW8Jg/VopCvZUDf6I/AAAAAAAAIzM/WeXZ_tdpXkI/s1600/2017-Mercedes-E-Class-Interior-3.jpg Last edited by lordmuhata; 12-07-2016 at 02:38 AM.. |

From the pictures I have seen, I have to agree with you. I will stay with my F10, and see if I move down to the 3 Series when it comes out or to the 4 series Gran Coupe.
When a car costs upwards of $70K US +, you expect a wow factor when you step in the car. The new E-Class (love it or hate it) does give you a WOW. the new G30, just looks nice. I like the G30 Steering Wheel. Not feeling the centre console as much. Quote:

1) the photo you posted is a longer shutter time, so the "glow" appears greater than it is. 2) I don't think that we've seen any full night time photos of the interior of the G30, and I think if you're looking for the "wow" factor, the G30 will have some options (maybe not, but it at least deserves a fair look when we have a chance). For example, here is a screenshot of the G30's ambient lighting turned up: The issue of course is still point (1): the MB interior has a shutter delay so that the lights really pop, while the G12 in this photo doesn't, but it looks like impressive interior lighting is going to be present on the G30 as well. |

Fair point. We will see once the G30 hits local dealerships.
